Spring Break Ideas!
Where is everyone going on Spring Break?
I am exhausted with trying to find somewhere that does not cost several mortgage payments. I know its my own fault for not booking in advance.
So share your destinations please.

Everything was way too expensive (and packed) during that week - so nowhere. Maybe Memorial Day weekend we'll go somewhere

Myrtle Beach is not warm in April.
Flights are outrageous unless you can travel mid week to mid week. Then there are some good deals. $88 round trip on Frontier to FL out of Islip April 20 to 25
Hershey for us, and we will be freezing. We had plans to go out west but I sat on it too long and the flights went up quadruple. Just dying to sit on a beach somewhere. Even for a day. Fortunately I'm going to Vegas in may, so at least I'll get some warmth. Over the cold.

Myrtle Beach can be warm but it's hit or miss, we've gone for spring break before - once it was warm, once it was freezing but it seems to be a popular spring break destination.
For OP - I would do some day trips at this point. We are off the week after easter but most of my county is off the week before so I'm expecting crowds to be manageable.

I went to the Jersey Shore last year on Memorial Day weekend and it was in the 40's and low 50s every single day and rained non stop with hurricane force winds for 3 straight days. What a disappointment. Worst trip ever and a complete waste of money. I mean you would think Memorial Day weekend would be at least warm enough. I am so jaded of going anywhere north of Florida before late June anymore!

Disney LOL I KNOW. Leaving a few days before the break just to balance out those flight prices. Ugh

I was going to say- what is with the cancelled flights lately? I am in a bunch of Disney FB groups and I hear lots of people talking about how they had to drive the last minute because their flights were cancelled. My father in law, who moved to SC, flew up to NY for a wedding this weekend and was supposed to fly back today, and his flight got cancelled.

I heard it was a lot weather related. Lots of tornadoes down south.

I did too and my kids went to spring camp. One year we went to Disney on Spring break. Worst mistake we could have made.
I forgot that the kids haven't even gone on SB yet as the colleges are done already lol.

We are going to cabo but we booked this so long ago. I like to book things as far out as I can because you get the best deals and we travel a lot. Even if I end up having to cancel I will book hotels as early as I can for places we are thinking about going.
If I were trying to get a last minute deal though I would check Hotels Tonight. You might be able to get such a good deal that the hike in airfare doesn't matter as much.

Yes - and Southwest had an outage. We had friends trying to get to FL but didn't make it (they tried Sat, Sun and Mon).

This is how we are too. We book our August trip in like Nov or Dec

We book 1-2 years in advance for vacations lol. This current vacation, we booked in September of 2020 for May of 2021 and it keeps getting pushed. We have actually booked a cruise though when the ship wasn't even built yet, 2 years out lol.

I just feel like hotels never get cheaper, they always go up as the date approaches and they fill up. And in general for the times we are going or the places we are going I know that it's not like they are going to be sitting there with empty rooms and dropping their prices- so we like to book far ahead to get the best rate.

Exactly and we were able to lock in our May 2021 rate for the cruise after that got cancelled and this one. Sometimes the cruises do drop and we actually got an upgrade for our 20th anniversary for $100, total, more from a balcony room to a Suite.

Thats good they did that... we're going on our honeymoon in May and we told the hotel and they were like "We dont do anything special unless you get married here" and its a spa hotel and they're already completely booked (2 months out) and I said "we didn't know we had to book spa treatments as soon as your calendar opens, it's our honeymoon, there's really nothing available??" and they were like "No. f*ck you" lol not quite but it seems like hotels don't do 'special' things anymore like they used to.
Congratulations on 20 years! That makes me happy when I see long term marriages.

Thanks. It was actually a deal for anyone. I just happened to call to see if they had any price reductions or upgrades and the woman told me about this. Hard to come by anymore though as I have looked again and nothing. We are actually up to our 29th anniversary now

HOLY COW, congratulations!! I love to see people wake up and choose each other every day, people are so quick to end it nowadays.
I keep joking I hope we live to see our 25th And now we got cancelled TWICE from covid so we're 2 years even more behind! I told him we're getting married even if it's with the priest in a parking lot
I hope you guys do something special on your 30th!

Yes, might do a land vacation as we love cruising but might want a change for our 30th in the Caribbean.

Fuel cost/supply issues and they still don't have enough employees. Also explains ticket prices rising.
If i was going anywhere i would make sure its a driveable length. I had a friend stuck in FL for 3 days with kids trying to come home.
