Sprinkler question...
We have inground sprinklers in our new house...We have never had them before so we don't know what we have to do...Do we need someone to come in and open them or can we do this ourselves? We want to start using them but don't know what to do! TIA

Re: Sprinkler question...
im almost positive you need to hire someone to come and start them for the season. if you need someone my father in law owns TLC/Rainbow sprinklers in Hicksville. he doesn't do installs anymore, just maintanence.

Re: Sprinkler question...
I would hire someone to open them for you since you have never used them. They will test that all the heads work properly. and they can set your system for you so they go off at the correct times and for the correct time limit

Re: Sprinkler question...
I did mine myself after we moved in. I got a large stream of water coming from one area, so I dug it up, patched the severed line, and I was good to go....
I don't use them anymore, since I realized that the more effort you put into watering means that much more effort needed for cutting....

Re: Sprinkler question...
If your DH is handy he can probably do it...my DH did and we never had them before. He just read the booklet for them...granted you won't be able to do this if you don't have the booklet, but I think it is pretty cheap to hire someone too.

Re: Sprinkler question...
you may want to get someone the first year, since you need to know where your shut off valve is and may want to look at the heads, but honestly, the beginning of the season is easy. You turn the valve on and turn on the timer - that's it.
you NEED someone to close the sprinklers to blow out the hoses/pipes or you could crack them when they freeze
