St. Charles experiences?
Just wondering if anyone has or knows of anyone who has delivered at St. Charles in Pt. Jeff. That's where I'll be delivering, and I don't see many posts on them here.
Thanks

You mean it wasn't memorable for you?
Yeah, I've heard good things in passing too, but not too much about it on here.

I'd like to know too. I'm pretty new to LI, so I don't know much and I'm delivering there. When are you due? I'm due the end of August.

Re: St. Charles experiences?
I will be delivering there in April. So far they have been nothing but helpful and supportive. I had to switch my OB and hospital recently and they have made my transition smooth. I'll let you know more when Josh Jr. makes his appearance.

Re: St. Charles experiences?
A Co-worker of mine has a nephew that was recently born there. The only thing I thought was weird is they don't allow visitors to touch or hold the baby. They can only look at him/her through the glass in the nursery. Other than that, she said the experience was fine.

You mean even the grandparents weren't allowed to hold the baby, or aunts/uncles? Hope that's not the case, because it should be as the parents want, no?

Yup, she was the aunt and apparently their policy is no one can hold the baby other than the parents. Also no one under 12 (I think it was 12) is permitted to visit. I remember thinking it was a really weird policy.

I'm delivering there as well. I haven't heard the whole holding the baby thing, but I did hear their visitng hours are very strict.
7-8pm - that's it! Grandparents can also visit from 12-2pm.

Wow, that's really very limited. That would be a lot of people crammed in for that time period I would think.
Boy, I thought I'd want my mom with me for a while on and off throughout the days I'm there, but doesn't sound like that would be possible

Well, I'll be raising a fuss over that one I'm sure. I mean, if I want my sister or mother to hold the baby, they can hold MY baby!

Re: St. Charles experiences?
I just delivered there on Dec 12th. I had an awesome experience there. They did not restrict who could hold the baby at all , my nephews visited at the 2-4 visiting hours and they both held the baby. They are 11 and 13. The nurses were amazing- especially Georgette, Laurie, Gertrude and Ann. I would reconmend St. Charles to everyone I know. Any more questions let me know,
Good Luck

We may be there together! I'm delivering there, due June 25th. My SIL had her baby there in August and everyone was wonderful. Very professional and thorough.

Re: St. Charles experiences?
I delivered there 6 weeks ago tomorrow. I had a great experience (as I did the first time 4 and 1/2 years ago). The nurses were great. The rooms were clean and the food wasn't even that bad! The general visiting hours are from 7-8 when the baby will be in the nursery. Grandparents hours are from 2-3 (but it seemed that people may have had a little more than grandparents there). The baby is in the room with you during this time so people could hold him/her. I highly recommend St. Charles.
