St. Patrick's Day in NYC

This will be my first St. Patrick's day in the city (I will be working though)... I don't know what to expect. Even though it's on a Monday is there going to be complete mayhem? Will there be drunken arses on my 5:00 train home?

Can any one lend a little insight on what to expect?

THANKS!!!!!!!!

I wouldn't say complete mayhem (unless you work close to the parade).

There will be drunk people on your train ride home though - most definitely.

yeppers. I work 2 blocks away (love it!!). We usually go to a bar during lunch. The train def. has drunks, but most people are very cheerful on St. Patrick's Day. Its my favorite day of the year!!

Personally I LOVE drunk people on the train. Makes the trip home more interesting and fun.
(Then again I am usually ONE of the drunks on said train.. Chat Icon )

Re: St. Patrick's Day in NYC

Busiest trains are in the morning and up til abotu 11 AM when the parade kicks off. busiest spots are mid-town in the 40's to the 80's all off 5th Ave. East side has a lot of pubs but the further away you get away from 5th Ave. you're good. Parade runs from about 45th St. to 82nd. Busiest spot is by St. Patrick's Cathedral as the Cardinal is outside watching the parade and the parade stops there for the judges.

Trains in the evening won't be too bad as most people have left by the mid-to-late afternoon.
