Started Cereal This morning

I started Ella on Earth's Best Organic Whole Grain Rice Cereal. I mixed a tablespoon of the cereal with like 3-4 tablespoons of her formula. She ate like 4 spoons of the cereal and then she did not want anymore.

Can you tell me how much of the cereal your DC ate at first trial and what was your feeding schedule like? TIA!

My DD has always hated cereal on its own. She's 8 months now. We started it at 5 months, and it was always a fight for her to eat it. Once we were able to start fruits/veggies, we just mix it into those (or buy the Earth's Best that have grains mixed in already).

Good luck!

I think alot of babies dont like the cereal on its own. DD would just take a few mouthfuls and then lock her lips tight. We mix her cereal witha little applesauce and she now eats like a pro--Ped started her at 4mths.

DD *hated* cereal at first. Wouldn't even take a mouthful. After about the 4th try, she started taking it like a champ! In fact, she LOVES rice cereal now.

You can try different consistencies to see what she likes. My ped suggested to make it the consistency of applesauce at first, which I found to be about 1 TBSP of rice cereal to 1 oz. of formula.

Re: Started Cereal This morning

We started Oatmeal last week and only did once b/c she reacted, she ate almost all tbsp.

Today was the second day on rice, she didnt eat the whole tbsp.

I figure as she gets used to it, shell eat more.

eta: as of right now we are only giving her in morning b/c of first reaction peds said take it slow. Then if no reaction i can increase amounts and add fruits.
