Started house shopping

Seems like DH and I will never find a house! Everything either seemed to small, no property or finished to someone elses liking.

It was actually quite depressing!

How lonhg did you look for a house until you found "the one"?

keep your chin up. it will happen. just remember not to base things on the paint color, it is so easy and cheap to change.
look for things like...
room size
enough bathrooms?
if you need a den, does it have one?
basement?
garage?
appliances?
heating system?
taxes?
size of house... can you afford electric bill?
gas or electric cooking, is it important to you?
stairs? do you want a cape or a ranch? do you have elderly folks coming over and can't climb stairs...

this kind of stuff. pretend the peoples furniture is not in the house when you look. imagine the walls empty, with your family photos up. does it feel homey to you?

that's how my dh & i chose our house now. we knew the house had good "bones" but needed work. taking off wallpaper and painting, re-doing floors, carpet etc...

i don't think you'll find "move in ready" to your liking...
