Starting a home baking company???

I know there are a couple of ladies on here that cater cupcakes. If you wouldn't mind, could you answer some questions for me? Like do you have to have permits, etc.?? I wasn't planning on doing cupcakes, but I make a killer cheesecake that I've been told on more than one occasion that I should market. Just kind of toying with the idea...

I don't really have an answer for you, but I know several people that have done this - seems to be newest trend! Many of those people did not have any formal training, or an actualy 'business'. they just started selling to friends, who told their friends, etc, and then eventually, after making some money, went through the whole process of formally operating as a business. I don't know if the best way to do it, but that;s what I've seen :) good luck!
