Starting foods (jarred) ?

Does it go by jars or days when testing food?

We started Ryan on carrots this morning (DH gave to him). If he gets a jar in the morning and evening today and tomorrow, can I start him on something new on Saturday? That means he'd only have it for 2 days, but 4 jars.

Daycare won't start him on new foods so I'm trying to get them in him before Monday - so we have a bigger variety to offer him.

Thoughts?

TIA

I'm pretty sure it's 3 days not jars. It's a time thing not an amount.

I think its because symptoms of an allergy may not show up for 72 hours.

I do everything by 3 days.

We gave Elizabeth something new on Saturday so Monday was the 3rd day and I made the day care give it to her. I watched very closely for any reaction over the weekend and there was none.

Ok, so if DH started carrots today then I guess I have to stick with that through the weekend and start something new next week. Sorry Ry, no bananas for you yet!

We did by days. Our ped recommended the 1st day just giving 2 tsp (2 spoonfuls) just in case the baby is allergic. Then the next day we would feed her about 1/2 a container, then the rest of the container the 3rd day, then we would start a new jar/container on the 4th day.

Oh really? Oops!
Not sure that'll fly with Ryan. He literally leaves his mouth WIDE open and barely closes it to swallow he's so excited foods coming. Chat Icon

I always did it with some other food. The new food wasn't the only food I fed her I would pair it up with something she had already tried. So basically in every meal she was getting about a 1/2 container food plus cereal.

ETA: We can't put DD into the high chair until we have everything ready to feed her because if you put her in there and leave her for a few mins to get her food she pitches a fit. She LOVES her food.
