starting sippy cups
I'm trying to start dd (9 months) drinking from the sippy cup. The one that I bought was a stage one but she doesn't seem to get any liquid out when she uses it. Just wondering which brands of sippy cups that you have started your dc on and at what age. thanks!

Re: starting sippy cups
i went right to the straw sippy cups (and only by accident- when she was like 6/7 months, i was drinking out of a straw thingy, and she wanted...and hasnt turned back since...)
we use and have about 4 of the playtex straw ones....we do have a few of the avent sippys though, with those soft flat rubber things to drink out of...
they also say that straw sippys are best for their mouths and that sucking motion and stuff like that...the whole "research shows" stuff from speech therapists.....
but to that im always like- none of us are bad talkers and we all drank from sippys....

Re: starting sippy cups
My sitter first started her on her own and at first I was b/c that should be my decision but I realized that she was right in starting her. Bella was around 7 months. My sitter went out and bought me many different brands to try and I ended up using them all. I don't have one brand in particular I love but when your DC gets older and get the hang of the sippy I really recommend that first years disposable kind. There are no parts to disassemble to wash. They remind me of the disposable zip loc containers. They also come with the kind that you put a straw in.

Re: starting sippy cups
my dd uses the NUBY brand ones (and has since about 4-5 months) for water only...they are soft rubber, so it is easy for her to get water out of it...I will switch her over to the straw ones eventually, but she can actually hold and drink from these herself at 8 months...

Re: starting sippy cups
We started and the playtex ones were too hard for him to suck on...we got two nuby ones ( ones a straw one) and he loves them, just is a little lazy about holding them himself yet..hes 6.5 months.
