Starting Solids: Cereal vs. Fruits/Veggies
Did anyone start their 4-6 month old with fruits/veggies first instead of cereal?

Re: Starting Solids: Cereal vs. Fruits/Veggies
With DD#1, I started with rice cereal for a few days and then went to oatmeal; never tried barley. We were on veggies the following week.

Re: Starting Solids: Cereal vs. Fruits/Veggies
I was reading on wholesomebabyfoods that it is perfectly fine to start them on a veggie/fruit before the grains. I didn't but I may have had I know.
they recommend avocado as a great first food. it was the first non cereal we fed to Luce and he LOVES it.
I just mash a soft ripe one through my metal colander (small wholes, no slats) and it comes out a great consistency (though you could thin it out with formula or breast milk the first few times b/c it is thick)
check out wholesomebabyfood for more ideas!!!

Thanks for this rec!
I also asked my ped and she said it is fine to start with fruits/veggies rather than cereal.
