stay at home/work at home moms
My job does not offer the luxury to work from home and I am scheduled to return to work soon. I have been home since April and DD is 3 months now.
I am going through MAJOR separation anxiety and do not want to return to work. However, DH and I can not survive on one salary.
So my question is, has anyone or is anyone doing some type of online work from home or for those of you whose jobs allow them to work at home, what type of work do you do?
I have been doing searches at online jobs and am very leary if any of them are authentic. So if anyone has any recommendations can you please share or FM.
TY

I haven't been able to find anything - but everyone keeps telling me to check WAHM.com. I can't find anything on there for me either

Re: stay at home/work at home moms
I negotiated my stay at home position with my company before I went out on maternity. It started out as working from home 2 days a week. At some point we moved buildings and I worked from home 5 days a week for months... We got used to me being home and so when we had to go back to regular schedules at our new office, I again re-negotiated (took on more work and less of a pay increase) to work from home 4 days a week.
Do you think that you can go back to your employer and work something like that out?

I wish I could work something out like that. However, I train CPS workers for NYC and all trainings are done in the classroom setting. So, unfortunately I must be physically present at my job.

I wish I knew of another way.

Re: stay at home/work at home moms
I work from home -- when I work. I have my own business but I was established in the industry and then left my previous employer to go out on my own - my clients and suppliers followed me. I'm an International Food Broker, not something you just kind of decide to do one day.
Is there anything you could do as your own business??

Re: stay at home/work at home moms
I am a WAHM / SAHM. I was hired as an exec assistant 3 years ago, that position was upgraded to business manager which is the title I hold now - job is pretty much the same!!
I worked out of a home office for my emloyers before DD was born but once she was born I started working out of my home and we kind of stuck to that and it works for all of us!
Try looking for some sort of assistant job as some of those are flexibile. I also noticed an ad on an airline website that I was recently on that was advertising work from home jobs - Aer Lingus.com
Could you mind someone elses baby? or if you dont want to do it full time how about picking up some older kids from school, taking them to your house etc until the mom / dad finishes work - part time babysitting.
Maybe you should advertise what you can offer in your local paper, babysit after school, pick up dry cleaning, sit in someones home waiting for the cable guy etc...
Good luck believe me there are some hectic days around here trying to do two jobs at once but being able to be home all day with my DD more than makes up for it.
