I don't think that dissenting opinons is DRAMA, it's conversation.
And, Jen, to answer your post, are you concerned about the testing?

Re: Stem cell research info
I have to be honest and start by saying I didn't read the link. But I have thought about since one of my sister's BF became quadriplegic after a car accident.
I thought how in one spilt second our lives can change forever and if I were in the situation I would want people to continue researching.

Re: Stem cell research info
I don't see any drama
I am 100% for the umbilical stem cell research, but I admit it, the embryonic stem cell research makes me feel a little concerned being that it is a human embryo "a baby". I guess it depends on how you define it. But I do feel the good outweighs the bad. My SIL is a big advocate for stem cell research since my niece (her daughter) almost died from juvenile diabetes as an infant, so I do know a lot about the benefits.

I am no where near an expert but from what I understand, there are banks full of embroyos... left over from infertility treatments and other things which could be used. Anyone know more? The scientists on here can explain.
There are many diabetics on both sides of my fam and from what I have read, there is so much potential with stem cell research so I am for it.

wow....so there are a bunch of ways to get the cells
in that case i am all for it...
but i just couldn't back anything that would be getting PG to take the embriotic cells

IMO, I can tell you from EXPERIENCE that a human embryo is NOT a viable baby unless it implants...

I definitely know that it is not a baby... but I guess I didn't word it right. I meant to say it has the potential to be a baby... that is where the ethic debate comes in.

Right, that is the heart of the debate. What happens to the embroyos tho if they are never implanted?

Well, I'm not exactly sure...
But I know that during IVF we consent to donate eggs that are not viable for research...
I believe it used to be for embryos too

Invitro fertilization... a person may have a couple of fertilized eggs but only implants 1,2,whatever... so the leftovers can be frozen or discarded. The ones that would be discarded can be donated to the research.

I've had over 25 embryos that never implanted...
Where are they?

i believe they are either frozen or discarded. And the ones that would be discarded are the ones going to research.
