Stepchildren and Wills
Hi Everyone!! It's so quiet here lately, hope everyone's doing good
DH and I are about to set up our Wills. We both agree that if something should happen to either one of us, the other would get everything.
My question is: for those of you that have stepchildren....
1) Do you plan to leave everything to them or are you leaving anything of "yours" to other family - or vice versa, if your DH/DW is the step-parent, what are they doing?
2) If you have BIO children together, are you leaving everything equally to all of the children? OR are you leaving 50% to your BIO children and splitting the rest between all children.
What are your thoughts? We plan to have a BIO child together, God-Willing, and I think that our BIO child should get 50% and the rest split since my SK will get part of their mother's will too. Please excuse me, I haven't thought this out thoroughly yet at all.
Thoughts?

Re: Stepchildren and Wills
this is a tough one. Right now as it stands my DH has everything going to his DD and I am not beneficiary at all, however, we are currently expecting our bio-child together and I told him we need to sit down and get everything in order to be fair and even. Certain things of mine like jewlery or things of sentimental value I would want to go to my family/child, SD wouldn't want or value any of it anyway.

Re: Stepchildren and Wills
We have yet to put together a will and NEED to get on it pronto !
As it stands now, DH has a seperate life insurance policy in SD's name and that is what she would be getting heaven forbid something happens to my DH....Everything else would go to me (and subsequently my DC's)...Dependant on what the future holds as far as my SD's relationship with us will determine what "I" will to her in the event I pass after DH...
If you would have asked me this question a few years ago when she was a "regular" part of our family, my answer would have been different, but for now I wil need to wait it out to see what the future holds
