Sterilizing baby bottles

Can I do it in the dishwasher if they are all I put in there? Do I use regular detergent or none? TIA

I would think that doing it in the dishwasher without detergent would be fine. Why not just boil them though? Check out this link I found for ya! Baby Bottles Chat Icon

Re: Sterilizing baby bottles

i actually bought a microwave sterilizer - all you do is put the bottles and nipples in there, add water and microwave for 8-10 minutes. so easy!

i wouldn't feel safe doing it in the dishwasher b/c of "stuff" that might be leftover in there from a previous wash.

I have a steam one that plugs in and steams them for about 2 min. I love it.

Re: Sterilizing baby bottles

you only have to sterilize them when you first buy them. wash them first, put a big pot of water on the stove, bring it to a boil, and put the bottles and parts in there for about 10 minutes. they are sterilized. you don't need to buy anything fancy.

after that, throw them in the top rack of the dishwasher with all your other stuff and detergent and wash it like anything else. i have a sanitize cycle on mine which i use every once in a while.

with all the germs in this world and all of the things that babies put in their mouths (which lately includes all of DS's clothes, toys, etc) you can't keep them in a sterilized environment. you'd have to be in a hospital for that.

just keep the bottles clean with warm soapy water and they'll be just fine.

Re: Sterilizing baby bottles

I just steralized them for the 1st time and after that I wash them with warm soapy water. No need to steralize all the time.
