sterilizing bottles, nipples, etc
How does everyone sterilize the newborn's bottles and things. How often? I was wondering if the sterilizer was worth it
TIA

Re: sterilizing bottles, nipples, etc
I sterilize everything after each use. I have a bottle sterilizer for his bottles and I use the micro steam medela bags for the pump accessories

Re: sterilizing bottles, nipples, etc
I bought the first years sterilizer. I washed the bottles by hand and then stuck them in the sterilizer and when it was full, I put it on. I probalby used it about 3x a week. It just was habit forming for me - I didn't need to do it as much as I did but it was there, it was easy and it is done in 15 minutes.

We just used the dishwasher. Gets them just as sterile as the sterilizers, but much easier, especially when we have almost a full load every night anyway....

I boiled after every use and eventually moved to the dishwasher.

We boiled them after each use. We would just wash them after use during the day & then at night boil them all. I was a fanatic about it.

Me too... her 1st ped told me that once the items were out of the boiling water or sterilizer that they weren't sterile any longer anyway.

Us too. But actually DH is more the fanatic than I am ! He has a whole set up / routine going on each night!

No, I wouldn't buy the sterilizer. You should boil the nipples and bottles the first time you use them. After that, washing in hot soapy water or in the dishwasher is enough.
