Re: Still can't shake the sadness... 5 months later...
I had a tramautic delivery with my first son 3 years ago, which I firmly believe contributed to my PPD. I live in Richmond and the local Mom boards posted the following article. here is the link:

I found it very hard to get sympathy and support after my delivery experience because it did result in a beautiful, healthy baby. People will tend to dismiss your feelings and tell you to move on, and put it in the past. I understand what they mean, but you still have the right to feel how you do.
For me, a few sessions with a therapist made a big difference!

I can relate to how your feel to a degree...we all dream about the day we give birth.
I had a not so great birth experience too...I had to be put under general anesthesia and I missed the birth of our babies. I was on magnesium for 24 hours and between that and the anesthesia I remember NOTHING from that day. After I was finally allowed out of bed the next day I developed fevers and was not allowed to see the babies for another 36 hours or so. I don't think I saw the babies until they were 3 days old. People were coming to visit us and were able to see the babies and I was sitting in my room. I was angry and upset and cried often after I got home.
Then my sisters best friend went through a traumatic experience and lost her baby a few days before her due date. It was a turning point for me. I am now grateful for any memory I have from their stay at the hospital and I cherish the fact that I have 2 beautiful and healthy babies.
lots of to you!
