Stomach related issue-can anyone help?
I am 24 weeks as of Sunday. My stomach has been bothering me since Friday, especially after I eat. Yesterday was really bad-feels like someone is stabbing me in the stomach, pain goes through to my back.
I have an ulcer-got in in law school (my 32K ulcer!) and it acts up from time to time. This is why I am not sure.
Does this sound typical, maybe a gas related issue, or is it related to my ulcer and maybe the baby squishing my stomach?
I want to wait and call my OB as the last resort because she will probably dismiss me like usual.

I get terrible stabbing stomach pains from time to time, too. I have IBS though and am pretty sure it's just gas (and constipation...sorry, TMI). It's probably worth checking with your doc, though.

Re: Stomach related issue-can anyone help?
Are you taking anything for the intermittent ulcer pain? I also have an ulcer but have bad reflux as well, so I have been on Nexium forever. As long as I remember to take my pill, I am pain free. I would think that your stomach being smooshed would definitely not help with the pain. It's hard to tell... Where is your ulcer? Is it in the stomach or duodenum?

It is in the duodenum. I am actually not taking anything for it-I used to take prevacid for it.

Re: Stomach related issue-can anyone help?
Sounds like maybe it is gastritis? I had VERY bad stomach probs with my last PG and kept winding up in the ER. Can I ask... are you constipated? Being backed up can cause pain plus gas and acid problems too so if she doesnt take you seriously I would ask her for a specialist. I was so "backed up" that I was put on a miralax and colace my whole PG and was under the care of a GI who my OB referred me to. Not all specialists will see you when you're PG (I actually had one abandon me while I was in the ER as I was my OB's problem at that point ) but once I found a good one, he helped tremendously!
Feel better

That is where mine is too. Hmmm... maybe it's just gas then. The thing that sticks out to me though is the pain after you eat... it may be a gall bladder thing. If it continues for a long time today, I would call the OB and see what he/she says. Do you have a GP down there? I hope you feel better soon!

Well, halleluiah for that! In the meantime, I would give your OB a shout and tell him/her that the pain is bad and has been going on since Friday. Are you moving back to LI?

Re: Stomach related issue-can anyone help?
I get really bad gas in my back. It feels like stabbing pains. Sometimes doing pelvic rocks helps a lot. I also do not have constipation problems, but I do have gas problems, so this could be it. Also my best friend who is a week or so behind you is having horrible stomach issues, and they sound very similar to yours. She does not know for sure what they are, but thinks it may be gas and digestion issues.

Is there anything we can do for gas pains?

Is there anything we can do for gas pains?
This is my #1 issue in 2nd tri, this is how I deal: moan, cry and complain and blame DH...
although these ideas have been suggested to me:
warm liquids: - tea - ginger tea - hot water with lemon - herbal teas of various varieties
stop eating fruits veggies and grains eat more grains
eat yogurt don't eat yogurt
If you are feeling he gas pain lower, mine is all in intestines..
lie on your left side or lie of your side and roll from side to side
Yoga Poses - Wind Reliever in particular
Go on all floors and rotate pelvis
seriously everyone has a remedy to suggest and for me either nothing works or some random combo of these works
I hope the pain is just gas, I compain every visit to the OB how bad it is, she just says its normal and if it gets too bad to take Gas-X
Gas-X is considered very safe its given to infants, but I haven't taken it, I've been on the verge a few times, though

Re: Stomach related issue-can anyone help?
Thanks for the tips. The only reason I am not certain is that the pain is in the middle/top of my stomach and it feels like someone is stabbing me or shot me and it hurts all the way to my back. I am resting today and I figured I will try some tea and bland food.

Re: Stomach related issue-can anyone help?
Michelle, I don't want to scare you, but that's how my gall bladder problem started. I was 30 weeks at the time. I dealt with it until delivery and it continued until 12wks pp, when i had the bile duct and gall bladder removed. Please call your OB - hopefully he/she is more knowledgeable on the topic than my OB was!

same EXACT pain, same place. the only relief you get is curling up in a ball with a fist shoved into your upper abs, right?
