Stonybrook Hospital Visiting Info

My sister had her DD this morning and I was wondering if anyone knew if I can bring DS with me to visit. Is there an age limit?

I have no one to leave DS with so I am hoping maybe they give me a break.Chat Icon

No, and they are strict about it. They reiterate it severals times during the tour, etc. Their fear is that the child will be sick or have a rash (who could not be showing symptoms yet) and pass it along to the baby who in turn gets an entire nursery of babies sick.

My BIL brought my 3 year old niece and 6 year old nephew when I was there. No problems with it.

Officially, only siblings are allowed under a certain age (14, maybe?), even during normal visiting hours. If the kids are quiet, and you act like you belong in there, most of the staff won't bother you, but keep in mind that I think they *can* tell you to keep the kids out of the maternity area.

Here are the hours: http://www.stonybrookmedicalcenter.org/body.cfm?id=99

It doesn't mention any restrictions here about non-siblings. I'm pretty sure they mentioned it while we were there, but you can say that the website didn't mention anything...
