I think it depends on what type of 20 month old she is. I didn't use my sit n stand until DS was 2. He wouldn't have been ready before it I don't think. If she isn't a napper in the stroller and she can sit comfortably then you might be fine with it.
What about finding a triple stroller on craigslist?

Don't second guess yourself, I think you'll be fine. As you said, you have the winter to settle in and figure it out. I don't think you'll need a triple stroller.
