Student loan debt?

I always see people on here saying their student loan debt is huge. I think that student loan debt is the least of my worries. DH and I consolidated our loans at 3.5 percent, a lower interest rate than any of our other payments. We owe about $15000 and it's only $130 a month.

Are your student loans a lot of money?

I pay about $235 a month. I consolidated when I finished my MA.

35k now, it was more, but I pay a little extra every month.....

no sense paying off bigger chunks 'cuz the interest is so minimal....

my student loans are not high

we have some other bills that kill us, not the loans

I consolidated at 8%, back in I think the early 90's, when rates had been pretty high. I think it totally S U X that student loans can't be refinanced.

Anyway, I have 45k; DH paid his off.

DH and I had a combined student loan debt of $170,000 - yes, you read that correctly (basically another mortgage). That debt was ONLY from law school for each of us (fortuantely we did not have undergrad debt) and even sadder, we both had partial scholarships and I lived home!

We have already paid off all of DH's private loans and are now working on my private loans. On top of our minium payments each month (combined $800), we pay another $1000 a month towards the principal of my private loans.

We have consolidated our federal loans at a very low interest rate - we are not rushing to pay those off.

Mine is about $40,000. It has a low rate (3.4% consolidated), but it is still daunting and I would like to pay it off as quickly as possible.

DH's loan is down to about $25,000.

He pays close to $1000. a month, over double the minimum payment.

By the time I finished grad school, I had $35K in debt. I consolidated and now pay an interest rate that's lower than anything else. I have less than $5000 to pay off, but decided not too, I'll just pay it off per month until its gone since the interst is really low.

DH's grad school loan was $48k. My loans (undergrad and grad combined) were only $27k. I think my loan is locked in at 3.1%.

I pay about $112/month at a 2.57% consolidated rate.

DH is loan-free , even after 3 yrs at Yale Law

yes, ours are very expensive. but we know we will be paying for the next 10 years so we don't kill ourselves over them. we make each payment on time every month and forget about it.

I got lucky, I only had about $6000 in student loans and I have a rate of around 2%. I get $61 deducted from my bank account each month.

I owe about 60K from undergrad and grad. DH owes 90K from law school. We each consolidated our loans and pay $600 month total.

(That's how I feel everytime I pay)

I only pay 79.00 a month
Dh's is about 103.00 a month

I have no idea what the rate is...but I pay $100 every month and I have about $4000 left - all from undergrad. Thankfully, I was a saver and I paid for Grad school as I went through it, so no debt from that. I thought my dad was crazy when he suggested it to me, but I am so thankful I listened to him now!!

I consolidated when I completed my masters also....got a great rate. I pay $204 per month.
DH does not have any student loans

I have a lot- about $20k. Right now our priority is getting rid of our HELOC, so DH pays a lot extra towards that and just the minimum (maybe plus $100). When the HELOC is gone we'll hopefully throw more towards my student loan because I feel like I am not making a dent in it.

i have $50,000 outstanding right now. I pay about $300 a month and I consolidated it.

My husband is still working on his MS so we aren't paying his yet.

My interest is like 3.9% or something like that and I started at $20K and in 3 year's, it's down below $10K now.

I pay over the premium each month to get the balance down.

undergrad is paid off - im still going to grad school - about $20K's worth and I have 4 more classes - but im making principal payments while im in school.

FH has a lot (undergrad and grat), but he was able to consolidate and his interest rate is 3%, while mine is at 6% and climbing
