Stupid comments over the holiday - let's hear 'em!

We all know how family can be - we love them but at the same time they make us and .

Today while visiting both sides of our family, I got the following comments:

- "Wow! Your belly got big!" (not said like "awwww - you have a belly!" - more like the "Holy sh!t - you got HUGE!" ) Duh - I'm pregnant and it's only going to get bigger.

- "Don't eat too much!" (like I have room to fit much food anyway )

- "Why don't you buy some pants that actually fit you?" (said by my aunt we affectionately call psychobitch as she saw me adjusting my Bella Band. My response? I don't want to spend money on pants that I will only wear for 4 more months when I can use the Bella Band for $17 and keep wearing my regular pants. She wouldn't have even made the comment had she not walked in on me in the bathroom as I was adjusting myself. )

- "So, are you excited?" (Ummmmm - YEAH, dumbazz! We've wanted this for so long and now that it's actually happening, we are over the freakin moon!)

DH and i had to deal with quite a few. I got the "OMG, your so big!!" That made me feel good. My grandmaother said to me, "Are you sure there is only one in there?" and of course the belly rubbing was quite a game at the gathering too! I was kind of glad to go home!

Luckily I escaped with little damage. The one comment I got was "I'd offer you more cake, but you probably shouldnt have any more" I'm pregnant...not fat!

Shockingly no one tried to rub the belly (thank God)!

family tried to make a joke- "you gotta stop gaining weight"(as if im not pregnant) but the delivery of it just didnt sound funny

my family was great - they kept saying i was beautiful.

ILs, however.... ehhh.
My FIL even took my seat when I got up to pee and didn't offer to give it back. I stood for the next 15 minutes til DH said we should leave. LOVE HIM for that.

Just one from my mom, "Your hair looks like its thinned out....what did you do? Is it thinner? Or maybe its the way its pulled back"

I've got one, but it's something my mom said to my SIL, who is 8 months pg
My mom goes wow you're gonna have a 9 pounder

I screamed... Ma!!!!! You don't say that to a pregnant person.

I'm guilty of asking preggo's if they're excited
Now that you mentioned it, it is a stupid question..

Ok, granted I did say "OMG, my butt looks so big, right?" but my mom didn't have to say "Honestly, yeah it does!"

I didn't get any that I remember over the holiday....but my favorite has to be my mom a few weeks ago "Well, you got your butt back!" Thanks Mom!!

I didn't see any family this past weekend. But I'm headed home to see my family this coming weekend and they haven't seen me since I was around 10 weeks pregnant (I'll be 32 weeks). I'm sure I'll have some gems to add to this thread then...

I had my DH and my mom comment on how pointed my stomach looked yesterday. Which isn't so bad since she was just laying in a funny way - I guess it could be a lot worse.

LOL although I had my whole family saying I looked great for someone who is almost done.

Just got one...walking down the hall I see one of our subs and she says "Getting BIG!"

Thanks! She's always the one to say things she shouldn't anyway but still...

My family was pretty great! My mom had me turn around to show my butt to my entire family so they could decide if I was having a boy or a girl..

My MIL said that my boobs were huge right in front of my brother-in-law who seemed pretty flustered

My dad made an obnoxious comment about my girl name choice- so I told him to be quiet because nobody asked him

There was some belly rubbing, but I don't mind it from my family

My mother kept insisting that I HAD to have wine with Easter dinner. MY doctor told me that a glass of wine a day made for a happy baby" And she followed this up with "Red wine is good for the heart." I just kept saying I was carrying an "expensive" baby and that I was abstaining.

DH's uncle said to me (in a very thick spanish accent):

Him - "Oh you're definitely having a girl... DEFINITELY a girl!"

Me - "Oh yea, why?"

Him - "She sucking the beauty out of you."

Me - "Oh wow, thanks."

But this isn't surprising coming from him... so it didn't bother me. You have to know him.

I have to say that my family has been great. And most of my family that I saw the past few days, I haven't seen since Christmas. They all said I looked great!

My in-laws were good this time! Usually they make me cry on the ride home by telling me how fat I am.. My SIL did tell me that she hoped there was an 18 pound baby in there. But, honestly, she has an eating disorder.. so I let it roll of my back!

But...

My BIL did ask me some crazy questions about my nipples. He is known for just being over the top and having no shame with what come out of his mouth. He is gay (that was his excuse for asking this, I guess because he doesn't have much experience with boobs)... But, he asked... when the holes were going to appear in my nips!! We had to explain that they are always there but they are like pinholes and the baby will suck out the milk... seriously in detail. He wasn't even trying to rude.. he was just really really interested. I thought his boyfriend was giong to drop dead right there at the table!!

So far , my family all said I looked great. No stupid comments from them, just other people

A coworker just said i can tell you are pregnant from behind by the way you walk. Um, thanks.

Oh... I got the belly rubs..

The drive by belly rubs (where the person is walking by you for the 50th time and HAS to TOUCH you EVERY time!!!!)

Then my wonderful MIL said," OMG!!! You're soooo BIG!! and you have a belly!!!!!"

Then she proceeded to tell me I could have the baby at any time.. I told her I was on;y 32 weeks, and I'm holdong out until 40 weeks if all goes well... "40 weeks!!!???? she said...!! Your not pregnant for 40 weeks!!!!"

I was like.. Um, Yes I am... Technically you're preggo for 10 months, and she was like NO WAY!! She told me people have babies at 7 months all the time!!! WHAT!!!!!!!

I told DH it was then time to go!! By the way, she had TWO SONS!!!!!! DUH!!

Then my mom told me I needed to eat more b/c I was also feeding the baby!!!

I swear... I'm glad that was over, I was exhausted!!

i luckly didnt any from the family since we stayed home by ourselves yesterday.

BUT DH did say to me are you sure the baby is making you this tired or are you just taking advantage of me helping around the house


Eta: later on in the night i dry heaved from the smell of the ham and then he apollogized all night long

Not so much the comments from the family than from random strangers that were like, OOOH Your going to be pregnant in the summer, good luck or that is terrible in that heat being pregnant. People just don't think before they speak.
