Stupid Question for Moms of more than 1 (development related)
Just curious did you find that your younger kid(s) hit developmental milestones earlier than your oldest?
DD is on the later side of motor skill developement (walking, crawling, etc..). She's not on the side where something is wrong because she's late, but she's on the later end of the "scale"
I see my nephews and see how the younger ones do things earlier than the older ones did and wonder if it's kind of like peer pressure to keep up and compete with their older siblings.

Tyler (younger) is doing things earlier than Jack for sure.
He sees Jack running like a crazy person and has to keep up somehow.

Re: Stupid Question for Moms of more than 1 (development related)
DD was border line late on every physical milestone. She just waited until the last minute to do everything-except walking, she walked right on time, 2 weeks after her first birthday. Since then, she hasn't stopped and it didn't end up meaning anything as far as her overall development.
DS, who is younger, has done a lot of stuff faster than she did but there are some things he is just as slow to pick up as his sister was. I think for the most part I just have lazy babies who get energized when they become toddlers.

DS was on the earlier side of almost all milestones (he is my first DC). DD is only 3 mos so we'll see.

I think this is my DD. She just turned 17 months in the past 2 weeks has started to find her legs. She's walking more and more every day now, not quite there yet where all she wants to do is walk.

it is the opposite for me - BUT, my first was a girl, second was a boy and I think in general, boys develop slower than girls
miki crawled at 6 months, KJ at 9
miki talked at 7 months, KJ - no words at 10
miki cruised at 8 month, KJ - no cruising yet

Re: Stupid Question for Moms of more than 1 (development related)
For me, my second has been much quicker with some milestones. Mine are 20 months apart so closeness in age could be a factor.
DD crawled at 11 months; DS (#2) crawled by 7 months.
DD walked at 13 months and DS was walking at 10 months.
He is also so much more daring to do things then DD ever was. He has no fear and I think that is because he has seen what his sister can do and wants to do it so he does. They started talking around the same time but she was much more conversational and clearer earlier.

I found that the oldest was ahead verbally & the youngest was ahead physically.
I think it was because the younger one was trying to keep up with her big brother.

Absolutely our experience in my house. Eliza is nowhere near verbally what Mads was at 20 months, but she blows Maddie's motor skills out of the water.

Re: Stupid Question for Moms of more than 1 (development related)
Hmmm... verbally my younger is way more advanced then my 1st was- but I attribute that to the their personalities being so different..
DS#1- is shy..always was.... he always understood what we said, but didnt really talk (other than a few basics words) until he was 22 months...
DS#2- came out waving to the Dr.'s... he loves people and would babble to anyone in his path- at 13 months we prob have close to 50 words...
My 1st walked freakishly early (9months) but the other physical milestones they hit around the same time...
