Such an emotional high and then low day.
We went today at 5 weeks, 6 days to the RE for our first sono. We saw a heart beat!! I was so excited.
(A little background we have been trying for quite awhile and had 5 IUI's. I m/c'ed last year. This time I conceived within days of last years conception. SOOO, I am a little nervous)
But, anyway, I was so excited that I let the cat out the bag to a few people at work today. That turned into the mighty rumor mill and by the end of the day so many people knew. So, I have been running damage control all day..
Then, I get a phone call from the RE. My progesterone on the first beta was 24. At the second beta it was 21. That wasn't considered a fall, just a fluctuation. But, today it fell to 15. So, I have to start suppositories tonight.
The logical side of me heard what they said, " Over 10 is still normal. The doctor was debating even giving you supplements at all but, since you m/c'ed in the past she decided to give them to you as a precaution".
The emotional scared side heard, "you are miscarrying. Expect this heart to stop beating any day now".
Why would it drop at this point? I thought if your progersterone was low it was always low? Does anyone have experience with it dropping after the heart beat was seen and supplements saving the pregnancy?
I am sooo frightened. I can't even curl up and feel sad. I have parent teacher night at my school.

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
I know the fear and anxiety having dealt with IF myself. Even at 22 weeks, I still cannot fully relax! Your progesterone will flucuate, it does not stay consistent. You are above the # they like to see, and the suppositories are just a precaution to make sure your progesterone levels stay up.

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
I'm don't really have any experience with this, the only time my progesterone was checked was at my 8 week appt. so I don't really have anything to compare it to. But at that point it was 10.4 They didn't give me any supplements and now I'm 29 weeks and everything is OK.
I know there have been a lot of ladies here that have used the supplements with good results.
I just wanted to give you some and
Good Luck

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
I am sorry I don't know much about progesterone levels as mine were never given to me, but having been through a MC myself, I totally understand what you are going through.
Even at 19.5 weeks I am still a nervous wreck.
If 10 is normal, you are fine. I think it is awesome that your Dr is so cautious. It sounds like you are in great hands.

I know how you are feeling. I have had 5 mc in the past. I am now 26 weeks pg. With this pg I was seeing a RE in the beginning my progesterone dropped from a 19 to 14 to 12 they put me on suppositories until I was 12 weeks. Hope this helps.

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
as scary as this seems, the good thing is that your doctor is being proactive and giving you the suppositories to use. that way if you do have an issue with low progesterone, you won't miscarry because of it. i think you'll be just fine
ETA: congrats on seeing the heartbeat!! how amazing is that

Oh Tricia...Lots of for you guys. Try to be strong. I know you're scared, but he didn't say you were going to m/c...in fact he's giving you the supplement to prevent this from happening again. I can't imagine what you're feeling because I know how scared I am and I have not dealt with even a quarter of what you have gone through. Please keep us updated I'm thinking about you like crazy and praying just as hard

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
Oh Tricia, I'm so sorry you had to hear that today especially after being so excited about the heartbeat. I was on progesterone up until last week and except for one night w/ a bit of bleeding because of an irritated cervix I really had no side effects. Stay positive, I heard somewhere that after you hear the heartbeat the m/c rate drops to 2-3%. Your little one is healthy and fighting! Taking the progesterone just ensures their safety! Lots of 's and 's.

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
My progesterone was low and I was on PIO and suppositories for a while. I am 24 weeks now. After going through IF, I know it is hard not worry. Actually, it never really goes away. For me it hasn't.
I am sure you will be just fine!

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
I wa son PIO so I can't speak about my levels(like 70+) BUT progesterone can fluctuate throughout the day. Don't worry-15 is still fine. Take the supplements-There were no side effects for me but wear a pantiliner as they do tend to leak sometimes

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
Just wanted to send some hugs your way...I got really excited for you when I saw you posting here the other day, as I remember you from TTC (I was anon4now) and from LIW b/c of Leese.
The ladies sound pretty reassuring, and I hope it is helping to ease your mind.
I wish nothing but the best!!!
ETA: congrats on seeing that HB!! Try and stay focused on what is for sure...the positive!!

Re: Such an emotional high and then low day.
I don't have experience with "dropping" progesterone but my progesterone at 7 weeks was only 6!! My doctor put me on suppositories until I was 12 weeks along. You can see by my avatar that I had very favorable results.
