Re: Suffolk County girls
I cannot recommend my Vet enough!!! His name is Dr. Marc Gurtman and he works out of Commack Animal Hospital.
Website: Click Here!
Charlotte adores him. I like him because not only is he very pleasant to speak with and talk to regarding your pet (he is so easy going, gentle and mild mannered) but he really takes the time to pet our dog, play with her, etc. I mean, he takes a good 5-10 minutes to just PET her and HUG her and LOVE her when he comes in the room like she is HIS dog! She is over him!! To the point where instead of getting nervous to go to the Vet she is actually excited w/ tail wagging when we pull up!
He is very smart and you can tell he has a vast knowledge of all things dog and animal related... and always gives her a treat while giving her a shot so she doesn't notice as much... it's the little things like that which make me love to recommend him.
Hope that helps, best of luck!

Dr. Lynch and Dr. Mac (Center Moriches). After a bad experience at another vet that specializes in Cats, I switched. They are honest and reasonable (my cousin is a vet in PA, and basically said that the other vet raped and pilgered us).

We use Hauppauge Animal Hospital. They have never been bad to us. They are right across from Hauppauge Animal Hospital.

I use Commack Animal Hospital as well. I like both Dr. Gurtman and Dr. Kathari. They are excellent!

Re: Suffolk County girls
Dix Hills Animal Hospital, Allison is awesome!!!!
So gentle, experienced, called after the appt. to make sure everything was ok.
They are a little pricey, but it's worth it.

Re: Suffolk County girls
My Pet's Vet on Jericho Turnpike in West Hills (NOT West Hills Animal Hospital) Dr. Rowan is our Vet, but the whole staff there is amazing. I got her as a recommendation from a leading Chinese Crested breeder on LI. They have very special needs. and Dr. Rowan is very well educated on the needs of different breeds. Their cost is reasonable, and they are very open to communication and to alternative care as well. For example, I do not get all of the shots for all of my dogs. She was very understanding about it and we had a lengthy discussion about it. When Bruno got fixed, we discussed the method and dosage of anesthesia for him, because he was under 5 lbs. She also stayed open 1/2 hour late the night before thanksgiving to see Loki, because she knew I did not want to take him to a 24 Hospital.
After I started going there, I found that she is the vet of choice for several reputable breeders on LI.
She is wonderful.

My family always used Bayshore Animal Hospital. They are a fantastic bunch of caring people. We always felt like they had our dogs best interest in mind and were a pleasure to deal with.

I use Commack Animal Hospital as well. I like both Dr. Gurtman and Dr. Kathari. They are excellent!
I went to Commack Animal Hospital for years with my old cat and always liked it there. I never heard of these two doctors though! I usually saw Dr. Koslow, is he still there?
Now that I don't live in the COmmack area anymore, we use Jefferson Animal Hospital in Port Jeff Sta, and I can't say enough about them. The whole staff is caring and friendly and the vets are fantastic. They take time and explain EVERYTHING to you and treat the animals with such compassion.

Re: Suffolk County girls
Dr. Kramer & Dr. McQuire Huntington Animal Hospital (off 110 North just before Jericho)
LOVE LOVE LOVE THEM!!
Dr. Kramer has really gone the extra mile with my diabetic cat. Trying new drugs, signing up for Credit Care for extra lines of credit for us to pay for extensive tests and the death of my kitten with his exploratory surgery.
He even signed up as a trial for opti-clik pens so we didn't have to buy one, even tho the insulin we use is normally only for humans only.
He's flexible with hours, finanical situtations and understands our goals with our animals. He was so kind to us when we lost our Sparky. He really has a heart. He calls at any time best for us, at home, work, mornings, evenings, Sundays, Weds (his day off), whenever is best or if it's urgent. He really understands how much our cats mean to us.
Dr. McQuire is so sweet. She also helped with the diagnois and surgery of Sparky before he died. She was kind to us as well and very patient with my husband has he made the tough choice. She's so kind to the cats and remembers them (which is amazing considering I have three monsters). She primarly sees our kittens, but Dr. Kramer likes to 'catch up' with us so he'll usually bump in and take our kittens in his care too. They are a GREAT tag team of doctors. Dr. McQuire started the insulin treatment with Buddy until he was so bad that she pulled in Dr. Kramer from an appt for a consult and then we used him going forward. She explained all the insulin details calming and slowly and answered any questions we had then, or later. Very responsive and patient, never a 'I'll call you later' from this pair of doctors.
Their staff is AWESOME. Lee (their receptionist) is always on top of details and holds the place together. She's so personable. The rest of the staff sees us when Buddy goes in for Glucose testing or overnight stays and they are always helpful and personal. They know US as a family not another patient. They know our car, or cats, our ilfe and our love for our guys. Its like visiting family for us and our cats. It makes a HUGE difference.
Oh and yes, they are affordable. Which is why I went the first time.
