Suffolk OB/GYN girls - question about hospital
I know that Suffolk OB is affiliated with both St. Charles and Stony Brook. Do you have a choice which hospital you can deliver at? If so, do you just request the hospital during your OB care or do you need to be sent to one over the other? If you had to choose between the two hospitals which one would you choose and why?
TIA for your help!

Re: Suffolk OB/GYN girls - question about hospital
You have a choice. I chose to deliver at St. Charles because it's smaller and it's VERY nice and clean. It didn't feel or smell like an icky hospital. I absolutely LOVED St. Charles. The staff was SO great, all of the nurses took excellent care of you, the rooms were so clean, and the food was AWESOME!!!! No, really.....it was delicious. I plan on delivering there again when we have baby #2!

Re: Suffolk OB/GYN girls - question about hospital
No one asked me which hospital I wanted to deliver at. They just gave me the pre-registration paperwork for St Charles. I loved St Charles (I delivered there twice so far) and haven't switched doctors because I am having trouble finding someone else who delivers at St Charles near my house. I wouldn't want to go anywhere else...except that Stony Brook has private rooms, which St Charles only has 2. Thats my only complaint!

You should call.. because the website says they are affiliated with Stony Brook but they really arent. I just found this out last week.. she said Mather and St Charles only.

Mather has no maternity ward. St. Charles and Mather are affiliated.........only St. Charles delivers babies.

Re: Suffolk OB/GYN girls - question about hospital
I am delivering at Stony Brook. My mom works there and I feel comfortable there as well. I know that Stony Brook is one of the top hospitals and my mother says that they get babies from all the other hospitals that need that extra "tlc" for different medical reasons.
The maternity ward is also new and suppose to be beautiful wich is an added plus! Good luck

Re: Suffolk OB/GYN girls - question about hospital
I delivered DS at St. Charles and was VERY happy with them. Now that I am pregnant with DC #2 I would consider Stony Brook. I saw their new maternity ward recenty and it's beautiful. Plus, I really like the all private room situation there. Although, I do like the restricted visiting hours of St. Charles. I was just looking for some other opinions I guess. Thanks for all your help ladies!
