Re: Suggestions on transition to sippy cup
In my experience it's been trial and error. I would just put the sippy on the highchair tray during mealtimes and a lot of times they would throw it off or try to suck on it. I ended up buying a few different brands until one "took." I don't know if there's anything we can really do about it except just allowing plenty of opportunity for practice.

Re: Suggestions on transition to sippy cup
My DS never liked the sippy cup, and we kept trying different ones. Finally, one day he saw my DH drinking from a straw, and that was it! DS grabbed the cup and straw and started drinking.
DS still doesn't like the baby cups with the straws, he likes regular cups with regular straws.
