Summer Break - what do working moms do with their kids and if it's camp, what if they can't swim yet?
My DS is in Kindergarten and we are struggling with what to do about Summer since DH and I both work. We can either find some kind of sitter to stay in our house with him all summer, which would be kind of boring for him, or we could send him to camp, which would be expensive and my concern is that of course they would go swimming every day and my DS doesn't know how to swim and is still a bit afraid of the water. I am also afraid that with a group of kids, nobody is going to watch my son in the pool like I would. Anyone have any experience with this?

DS can swim, but last year he opted to sit out of swimming most days with another boy. This was a beach camp and he likes swimming in pools better

Most camps test them on their water skills and give them a bracelet that corresponds with their level. With that bracelet, they can only swim in the designated section. If they don't want to swim, they can just sit out. Most camps do have kiddie size pools though, so they can splash, etc. if they want, and not actually swim. Most camps DO give swimming lessons though.
There ARE tons of camps without pools and swimming though!
