summer care HELP!

I have an 8yr old & a 5yr old who is entering kindergarten in the fall. I now need summer care for them part time 2-3 full days per week. HELP! I'm having trouble even locating options. Any recommendations are appreciated especially if they don't cost a crazy amount. Looking in the farmingdale-Levittown area.

The situation changed suddenly & this isn't something I was expecting to need/afford Chat Icon

Does your school have an after school program? I'm sending my ds to that camp as it's cheap and local.

He went to the Y last year but your older dc is too old for that.

I know the frustration tho, I have a hard time finding anything long enough, I have a sitter 7:30-9 and then camp 9-6.

Re: summer care HELP!

Maybe see if there is a SAHM on here looking to make a few extra bucks?

Also does Nassau have summer camp options like Suffolk?

The town one seems very cheap for TofB but you need to have completed K first.....

Unfortunately I think the more affordable options for camp are half days.

This is what we are doing for DS through one of the local church schools.....

Re: summer care HELP!

For my older DD the district might have a program but it depends right now if enough people sign up unfortunately. I'm totw considering a part time sitter! If anyone is available or knows someone please send them my way!

Re: summer care HELP!

I do camp through my daycare. (My DS is now school aged.) You don't have to sign up for the entire week and if you are going away or want to do something else for a week, you don't pay for that week. You just need to advise them by the end of June. (If you miss a day you're signed up for, you pay for it.)

We attend a Tutor Time. I would check the daycare chains in the area you're located and see if they offer something similar.

Re: summer care HELP!

Have you checked sitter city or care.com. I have even found great nannies/babysitters on CL. Do a background check on your own. But I would start with care and sittercity. How about calling Farmingdale's child development program. They may have a list of students?

I'm also looking for a summer camp.

I just spoke with Kenwal. Almost $10K for two children for the full summer program.

Re: summer care HELP!

St. Luke's (up to going into second grade), also Farmingdale College has a camp (which I heard has gotten better since they redid the daycare)

St. Luke's AWESOME, inexpensive (relative to camps - swimming twice a day, VERY structured - but ages out after second grade)

Farmingdale - can't rate but here's the information

Re: summer care HELP!

Thanks so much everyone for the suggestions! I think I found a PT babysitter fortunately. A good friend of SO's sister so someone I feel I can trust. I've looked into these suggestions to in case. *fingers crossed*
