Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
What did you dress your newborn in if they were born in the summer?
I'm due Aug 6th and completely clueless about what kinds of clothes she'll need. I have the onesies covered... but beyond that. Do i get long sleeve/long leg things that are lightweight? She'll be sleeping in our room in the a/c at night, but during the day will probably just be fans. Will that be too hot to swaddle? Thanks!

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
DD was born in June. She was in onesies most of the summer, but I had lightweight pants and t-shirts for her too. ANd lots of dresses - everyone gave her a dress when she was born (we didn't know what we were having until she was born).

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
Thank you!
For PJs, should i get some lightweight pants/sleeves/footie pajamas? I'm still a while away, but for some reason this has been on my mind lately

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
My DC was born during the first week of Aug - I kept him in light onesies with the legs. He was usually swaddled during the night. He was up ever 2 hours, and he was usually wet - so we would go through about 5-7 onesies a day.

She had footie PJs and was swaddled - she slept in our room with the a/c on.

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
Warm pjs/sleep sack for the nights the airconditioning was on. Lightweight onesie outfits for the rest of the time.
The rule of thumb (per the pediatrician) is they should be in one more layer than what you'd wear. Given sweltering heat that summer & the idea that given my choice, I'd be naked in a pool at all day, one layer was sufficient.
At some point, you will want those lightweight long sleeved & pants along with a lightweight blanket- you're out shopping somewhere, etc.

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
DD was born in June and she only wore onesies ALL the time....maybe a pair of lightweight pants inside when we had the AC running.

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
Kerri lived in onesies and dresses that first summer. At night I had her in sleep sack pj's with long arms and she was swaddled.

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
DD was born in Aug and wore the one piece sleep/play outfits during the day (usually shorts with short sleeves, sometimes the long pant style with short sleeves) and the feety PJs at night.

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
leg things??
ya know I have to pick on you.
Seriously we used a lot of long sleeved onsies. The first few weeks we had him mostly in onsies and pull on pants cause he was swimming in any "outfits".

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
He lived in short sleeved onesies. At night he slept in either short sleeved onesie and the Miracle Blanket - or on colder nights footie pjs and the MB.

Also..Noah was a sweater....so at night, all he needed was a short sleeved onesie and the miracle blanket to swaddle.

Re: Summer moms- stupid newborn/fashion question
I had a winter baby, but I am barging in anyway.
I would still get some lightweight pants too because of sun exposure. At that age, they are too young for you to use sunscreen. I found it was pretty easy to shade the baby from the waist up, but sometimes a little leg was hanging out and I wanted to keep it covered up.
