Sunrise mall

Anyone else disgusted with this place?

I rarely go there, but ran in earlier to look for a pair of shoes for a wedding.

I think everything in EVERY store (including Macy's) is so picked over and gross.

Plus it's all people that are just sitting on their cell phones yapping away and not paying attention to any customers walking by.

I was able to find a pair of shoes but I would've probably done just as well just running into the strip mall I normally go to.

There are a lot of people with money that live in the area too, I think they need to look into making it nicer.

I don't go out there, but didn't they just make the mall in Bay Shore nicer because it was like this?

I always wonder where undercover boss is when these people are working for these corporations, bullsh!tting with each other and playing with their cells and ignoring customers. Customer service sux these days. Your right that the buyers for these stores...ughhhh...not sure whether their hands are tied money wise or they think this stuff is fashionable.

I used to shop there all the time. I went there the Friday after Christmas and I will never go back. Like you, I needed shoes for a wedding so I walked the whole mall. I felt very unsafe and I never felt like that before there. It needs a major face lift and extra security.

I will NEVER go there at night, EVER.

And not a lot scares me.

I've had people in law enforcement tell me to steer clear of there at night.

I think at some point they tried to make it a little nicer, added some stores, etc. but ITA with you. I live minutes from there and hate to go. Just skeeves me.

Once, I literally had to stay with a little boy who's parents left him in the play area TO GO SHOP. He was looking for them and they were nowhere to be found. I had to get security etc. That was the last straw for me. He was barely 3!!!

I will go to the kid haircutter there once in a while and the eyebrow threading place once in a while if my regular place isn't open. I'll also run into Macy's from time to time. Living so close, I always hope that it turns around at some point. It's part of the reason I switched gyms.

Re: Sunrise mall

I believe it!

The times I have been there, there are lots of little kids on the loose or left alone in strollers and such while the parents are looking through clothes.

Some of the "parents" look like they are still kids themselves.

(And yes, I know that is horrible and judgmental).

Re: Sunrise mall

i totally agree with you!! the sunrise mall has really hit rock bottom & i NEVER go there anymore

i grew up in massapequa so i pretty much grew up in that mall.... it just gets worse and worse as the years ago by.... like someone else said, they def tried to clean it up a while ago, but that didnt really help at all & its back to being trashy & leaves off a very unsafe feeling

now i live in bay shore & although i do like the bay shore mall better than sunrise, i wont go there at night either... malls at night just scare me these days! i pretty much avoid malls all together unless i HAVE to get something i cannot find someplace else

I hear ya! Over the summer I took my kids there during the day to do a quick return. I had the baby in the snap n go and the twins (2.5) were waking. We came out of j c penny's and a man stealing an iPad from the best but store literally almost knocked my kids over while running away.

I grew up in the area and actually think its nicer now than not used to be. I wasn't allowed there without a parent until I was 17. We go now to take DS to the haircut place and then let him in the play area and look at the koi. We have also stopped into Walmart or eaten in the food court afterwards - I like that they have kid tables which is cute. We don't go there unless we are taking DS for a cut though.

We go there to get our kids' hair cuts or if we have to run in real quick. But always during the day. Never at night, it feels so unsafe. I prefer to ride out to Smithhaven or go to huntington. But Huntington mall took away all the stores I go into for the kids and stuff.

Sunrise mall

Just to give you girls a little different perspective: I live in Queens - and Sunrise mall is the mall I love to go to the most! You want to see a bad mall? Try Green Acres. Roosevelt isn't necessarily "bad" in an unsafe way but it's so crowded that most of the time navigating it with a toddler just isn't enjoyable.

I live nearby so I go there if I need to go to a mall since it's close and not too crowded like RF but only during the day

I haven't been to Sunrise in awhile, but I remember never feeling super safe. The mall just always seemed rundown. It looks like I'm the odd one out, but I'd feel safer at Green Acres.

To be honest though, I don't feel very safe at any mall anymore with all of the craziness going on around the country. I do almost all of my shopping online out of convenience...I honestly don't think I've been in an actual mall in about two years.

Sunrise mall

I went there yesterday to look for a christening dress for my daughter. I was hoping to let my son play at the play area but OMG it was insanely crowded and tons of older kids. I let him look at the fish and that was it. I always liked it better than Roosevelt field, not as crowded and I like the stores.

You said it with your last statement....
I've worked at Roosevelt Field mall, and honestly, while I know that it's an "upscale mall" comparatively, there is no way in HELL you'd see me there at night anymore... I have no problem shopping at any of these malls DURING THE DAY, but you'd never find me at ANY MALL AT NIGHT.

I have to say that I went on a whim one day to Sunrise mall since I was in the area and it was so bizarre to me. I would never go back. I got the creeps being there.

I never go there to walk around anymore. The only time I go is to just run in and out of Macys and Hallmark. There are no good stores there anymore. Even the Macys is always so dissheveled.
