Sunshine Fund: What do you pay?
Mine just went up to $75  from $30. Do you feel like it's mandatory in your bulding?

We pay 25 for the school sunshine fund and 50 for the dept. sunshine fund. Its not necessarily mandatory but I personally do it. Its nice to do!

The first school I worked at I think it was 25 and they did a lot with the money, so I was happy I contributed. Last year I contributed 20 and I feel as though NOTHING was done with money, seriously I might have signed two cards.
ETA: It is not mandatory, but I think it is expected.

Anywhere from $20-30 is appropriate. $75 is a little ridiculous IMO. I'm always broke at the beginning of the school year. They gave us a breakdown of what the money goes towards but I feel like it's excessive.

$50 and very much expected. It's a nice thing to do and way to build community within a school.
The money goes to cards/ fruit baskets for a death in the family, card for extended illness, $50 gift to brides and grooms, $50 gift to new parents. I think it also funds the paper plates and utensils in the closet in our faculty room.
My dept might do something for its own member if need be.

Also, $20 for optional monthly breakfast fund.
then people usually colelct by wing or grade for things like a baby shower or what have you.
it gets a little crazy. everyone is almost too generous if that makes sense!

$20- it covers things like custodial appreciation, flowers for the school secretary, cards and a plant for staff when a family member passes away. We do showers and those sorts of things by grade level....
$75 sounds like A LOT....but I'd probably just suck it up and pay if that's what others are doing!

Do you mean social committee dues? If so, we pay about $75, AND THEN SOME!  Throw in another 30$ or so around the holidays for aides, custodians and secretary gifts, 5$ plus a gift for showers, then another 30$ or so at the end of the year for a custodian gift. So when all is said and done, yup, it's about $150 for things like that. And we have a small school.

OMG i am in charge of sunshine i just revamped the whole thing, 15 bucks each!!! Noone wanted to pay so we cut out some stuff and we will make it work...

We have $20 ...but when its a very bad or good year ( deaths/ births) etc
they ask us to contribute some more later on
This year I will since I will be having a baby in March but I always do so I dont get the secretaries extra gifts on appreciation days

It was $75 last year. It offsets our holiday party ,does bagel breakfasts, end of year lunch, baskets and gift cards for weddings, babies, deaths, etc..
For those who are in charge of sunshine and charging $15, how do you do it? Do you do any of the above with those dues?
