Re: Sunshine Fund: What do you pay?

It was $75 last year. It offsets our holiday party ,does bagel breakfasts, end of year lunch, baskets and gift cards for weddings, babies, deaths, etc..
For those who are in charge of sunshine and charging $15, how do you do it? Do you do any of the above with those dues?
same here. i believe ours was $75 or $50. i don't understand either how you get by with only $15-25. ours pays for so much, and as the recipient of it when there was a death in my family and i had surgery, i truly appreciated it.

Re: Sunshine Fund: What do you pay?
I think ours was $40 last year but noone paid so then we didn't have Sunshine anymore.
Shower and misc. gift $$ was just collected on an as-needed basis.
$75 is CRAZY!!! B/c you know people will be hitting you up throughout the year also.

We pay $50 and all parties (holiday, etc.) are extra. You are really expected to join.

Re: Sunshine Fund: What do you pay?
$40 and it goes to good use. I've been on the receiving end a few times for my wedding, my baby shower (which was AMAZING! and they bought my stroller for me AND wishing well gifts!), my grandfather's death and my new house. The money absolutely goes to good use in my school and I would gladly pay more.

Re: Sunshine Fund: What do you pay?
WHAT?! $75 from $30 is insane!! Who decided on that and why? We pay $30 I think and there always seems to be enough money for everyone and everything that we honor/celebrate!

Re: Sunshine Fund: What do you pay?
ours is 50$
But every time you turn around sunshine is sending around another collection(death, sick husband, new baby, family in need, ect) for another five. Then they host breakfasts/lunches that are anywhere up to 20 each.
Last year I think it went to well over 200$ Maybe more lol I "feel" you have to...or you are the one who didn't give sorta thing. I am going to add up this year.

Re: Sunshine Fund: What do you pay?
I think our money goes to good use. We are always able to give a nice gift card for a wedding, baby, etc.. from Sunshine. If we choose to do anything in addition to that, that's our discretion. The grade levels are responsible for throwing wedding showers and baby showers, so we will get the envelope coming around for $5....but you don't have to put in b/c everyone knows you put in Sunshine already. If it's someone I'm close with, I usually buy a separate gift anyway regardless.
As for our breakfasts, they are paid for completely with our funds. We have one every month.
We never get asked for additional money for a death, house, etc..
As for our parties, the holiday party and end of year party are extra, but Sunshine's $ offsets the cost of that and the retirement parties at the end of the year. This includes DJ, catering hall, etc.. We paid like $30 for a gift and catering hall party at the end of the year, which was great.
I was in charge of birthdays, which was something new I started with Sunshine. Everyone got a chocolate bar in their box on their birthday and I did a birthday bulletin board so everyone would know. A small thing, but everyone appreciated it.
I think it depends on the size of your building and the culture (there are 80 teachers in our bldg). We had 11 pregnancies last year and 3 weddings. I was on Sunshine last year and we had a lot of people not pay. But then what happens when that person has a wedding, etc.? You feel obligated to give them something because they're part of your 'family' at work, yet, they didn't care to contribute to anyone else's? It makes a sticky situation. Our was $75, but we let people pay in installments of $35 and $40 by November 1st I believe.
