Super duper long, but want to get it off my chest...
DH and I have decided to switch practices at 27 weeks!
There wound up being a whole list of reasons which ultimately resulted me in finding a new practice.
At 6.5 weeks they told me my pregnancy wasn't viable. Sched. me for a D&C. I went in for the proced. Before they did it they did 1 last sono and found 2 healthy heartbeats.
At 12 weeks I was told Twin A was measuring bigger than Twin B and therefore there was a risk of TTTTS (Twin To Twin Transfusion Syndrome) and that I might need to go to Philly for a special laser procedure on the umbilical cord. A week later I was told they made that decision premature and it probably wasn't necessary.
At 16 weeks I was told my cervix was shortening and I needed to be closely followed to see if I'd need a cerclage (stitch in my cervix). My DH and I jumped through hoops to make it to the new appointments (the following 2 days consecutively) only to find out my cervix was fine.
At 20 weeks I was told I would need Fetal Echo Cardiograms done on the twins because I was a high risk pregnancy.
I showed up for the fetal echo at 23 weeks. After waiting in the waiting room for nearly an hour and a half they took me. After a 2.5 hour appointment I was told Baby A did not completely cooperate and I needed to come back in 2 weeks. However, Baby B looked perfect.
I went back in two weeks only to find out they didn't have any info on Baby B or Baby A and the whole test needed to be done again. Sat through another 2.5 hours at which point I was then told both babies had congenital heart defects. They set up an appointment at Schneider's Childrens hospital for this week.
DH took another day off of work and we went. After a very long 4 hours (mostly sono) we were told both A and B looked perfect and no congenital heart defects were located.
All in all, I understand I am a high risk pregnancy because my twins are sharing a placenta. But I have a 2.5 year old, completely healthy son in which I had no complications with. I cannot have a doctor who is going to constantly give me negative, scary, news. I need a doctor who is optimistic, and comforting.
Those were my personal issues. Mind you, some of these appointments were done at their "sister" facility in Plainview (Ocean Perinatology).
Additionally, I hated how the doctor never actually did an exam. It was run more like a business than a doctors office. A nurse did weight and BP check, a tech did sono, and then I'd sit in the Dr.'s office for a "consultation".
I felt like the doctor should be watching the sono, at least at some of the appointments.
So, that's my deal. Sorry to have burdened all of you with it. I just feel it is very unprofessional to make such serious diagnoses and then turn around and say "oh nevermind".
Aside from the fact I was going to appointments weekly, sometimes even more. Finding someone to watch my son (I am a SAHM) and DH being forced to take so much time from work for what I would consider "crying wolf" scenarios is just unacceptable.
So....with that said, I have an appointment at my new OBs office on Monday! Wish me luck!!

After all you have been through, I would do the same and I would have punched the doctors after I got my records. That's just me!
They should never, never make a woman go through what you've been through. I feel sick for you.
I really hope you love one of your new OB's.

Re: Super duper long, but want to get it off my chest...
Thanks girls.
I am all about being cautious, especially when dealing with a high risk pregnancy. But I think this last bout really just crossed the line for me.
Hopefully the new OB on Monday will be more of a glass half full kind of guy

OMG who is your Dr? I went to Ocean P for my High Risk appt in Lake Success & told my Long Beach Office of my OB/GYN how much i hate them. Even though my High Risk Dr seemed very nice & very informative i too had an hour wait there & it was just ridiculous. They thought i was coming in for the NT Scan & that im doing in LB office with the people who are fantastic. NOT THEM! I said im only here for a reg U/S & a consultation with the High Risk to meet him & get to know him. ***? Get it together folks! Already i informed the high risk Dr that Lake Success is NOT my favorite place & that i will be here for only the necessary appts. Otherwise i will be seeing my reg OB at the LB office. I dont care i have to let them know the truth.

Re: Super duper long, but want to get it off my chest...
You are so right and you are making the right decision for urself. Carrying twins within itself is high risk. But carrying twins that share a placenta is even MORE high risk. I don't know why doctors that are not qualified take on such pregnancies.
I too was a twin mommy up until 5 and 1/2 months where ttts got the best us One of my boys didn't make it. I want you to know that wherever you go now, they should monitor you once a week. I have dealt with the best doctors when it comes to twins at colombia hospital and i will be happy to share more information.
I wish you lots of luck and love for the rest of you pregnancy.

i think you are making the right decision....it's ok to be wrong occasionally but it appears to me that it happens a little too often at your old clinic....good luck with your new doctor

I'm sorry you've been through all this. I think you have to be totally comfortable with your doctor so I think this is a really good decision. It really sounds like they had you worrying unnecessarily and that's not fair. Good luck!!!

Re: Super duper long, but want to get it off my chest...
omg I am so glad you decided to switch doctors. Seriously. When this last thing went down and I was praying for you and waiting to hear results - I was relieved when things ended up ok and so angry at your Dr for putting you through that. And then I remembered the whole D&C issue and got angry for you again. And I didn't even know about all that other stuff. My goodness. No woman should EVER have to deal with that much unnecessary stress during their pregnancy. I hope it works out well with this new Dr.

OMG who is your Dr?
I was seeing Dr. Beloosesky at Island OB/GYN.
I asked Ocean Peri to document something 3 different times on my file (the type of Congentital Heart Defect my BIL has) of course when it came time to doing the Fetal Echo they asked what kid of defect BIL had. Of course by then, I forgot. And when I asked them to look it up in the system they said "oh that's not important"

Thanks so much! And I am typically not a worry kind of person. But how can one not worry with all these medical diagnoses being thrown my way.
My only regret is I should have taken the first mishap (D&C) as a sign and should have left the practice.
Oh well, live and learn - right? Hopefully my 3rd trimester moves along much more smoothly.
Thanks everyone for showing such amazing support through this whole ordeal!!

I was set to Ocean P also and I do not like them either. I also told my doc that I didnt like them - a nurse there was very rude to me and the girls doing the sono really panicked me once when they kept having different people come in to look at my LO heart. I told my doc I only want to see her.
