SuperBowl Menu

If you are hosting, what are you serving? I wanted something a little different this year and with kids in mind, so we are having:

--Hot Dog (big Costco ones) station with all the fixings. Side are baked beans and cole slaw
--Chips and dips
--Tortilla chips w/ salsa, guacamole and chili con queso
--Wings
--Meatballs with peppers and onions (instead of sausage, again for the kids)
--Mac and cheese (homemade)
--Only fruit for dessert since it is my b-day and we are having cake earlier!

I'm being crazy ambitious (with the help of my mom and sister) for our first Super Bowl party.

Pretzel pigs in a blanket with beer cheese dipping sauce
Honey ham sliders
Parmesan tortellini bites
Guacamole and chips
Brown sugar bourbon meatballs
Charleston cheese dip with crackers
Buffalo chicken empanadas with whipped bleu cheese
Honey teriyaki wings
Taco pinwheels
Veggies with ranch dip
Brownies
Cookies
Fruit kebobs with marshmallow dip

This menu is probably going to change, too! A friend is bringing either pulled pork or brisket or ribs, so I may play around with the sliders or change things.

We are only having a few people over so we will do wings, chips and dips, some chilli, sweet and sour meatballs and chips and dip. It's also DH's bday so we are having football ice cream cake for desert

Ours is small, too. 5-6 adults and 5 kids. Don't want to go overboard like we usually do.

Re: SuperBowl Menu

In the past we have always done Wings, Pizza, and Mexican/Spanish dips (like guacamole, queso, salsa, etc.)

This year instead of wings and pizza, our main course will be sausage and pepper subs. We are also doing a chicken wing dip, which is heavier. To start we are making dumplings with a dipping sauce and a few lighter dips.

We will have the usual dessert - candy, brownies (maybe ice cream to make brownie sundaes) and cookies.

I really want to try and make those pretzel bites that you dip into a cheese sauce but I am sooo intimidated by it!

That seems like a LOT of work when you can just buy this:
External Image
And make a cheese sauce.

Because I guarantee you, unless you tell people, they will think you bought those. And all that work, to waste!

LOL, yeah I see why the poster is hesitant to do all that work but understand liking to do things from scratch! I have a box of Pretzel rolls from Tastefully Simple...wonder if you could make little balls or bite sized pretzels with those?

Dreading having to go to Costco tomorrow night or Saturday...thankfully there is a liquor store next to it Chat Icon

We have a superbowl party every year....and our menu is usually the same every year:

1st Quarter: spinach dip, chili dip, pigs in a blanket, cheese and crackers, baked brie,

2nd Quarter: wings, stromboli, ham & swiss roll
This year I'm adding a Monte Cristo Roll

3rd Quarter: hero, potato salad, macaroni salad, coleslaw, baked beans

4th Quarter: dessert

Re: SuperBowl Menu

We usually host a bunch of people, but this year I am keeping it simple since I am 8 months pregnant.

Chips and dip
Pulled pork with peppers and onions
pasta with spinach pesto
meatball stromboli
maybe a shrimp oreganata dish since the other post made me crave it!
and a few assorted apps - but frozen ones from trader joes! arancini, fried mac and cheese balls and probably one more.

Then brownies for dessert.

Re: SuperBowl Menu

How did everything turn out for everyone?

I have wayyy too much hero leftover. I ended up making a couple of more apps and people brought stuff too. I guess people filled up on apps that they were full by the time I brought the hero out at halftime. No one really wanted to take anything home either! I think if we have it again next year I will order 1 hero instead of 2.

Re: SuperBowl Menu

I basically had all the food out at the same time as no one wanted to wait. Lol. Everything went over pretty well. Lots of hero left which we are fine with and lots of desserts.

Lots of leftovers even though I tried to keep it minimal. The wings were a big hit and all the munchies went. Sent my sister home with leftovers Chat Icon
I think we should have had the cake earlier. Though the guys all seemed to be fine with it, lol.
