Sweet air for dental work?
Can someone put me at ease about this?
I never had sweet air myself as a child, so I'm not sure what to expect when DS has it done for his cavities.
I'm feeling anxious about it.

Re: Sweet air for dental work?
I was an extremely anxious kid at the dentist, my adult teeth came in with no enamel so I've had a ton of extensive work done, I was 7 when I first got sweet air and it made the dentist a lot easier, I was given my own "nose" and it made it a little more relaxed, I also used head phones to cover the drill noise and such, I don't use the gas today unless its a big procedure, so it's not like I've gotten used to always getting it. I would give it to my ds if it was nessasary Bc I know how scary it can be. Hope this helped! Good luck!

It's good to know you would feel comfortable giving it to your child.
I had asked if he seemed ok with the work, can he stay awake but they said its so routine and 98% of kids get it.
What are the after effects like? Do you get back to normal right away? I would google all of this but I know I will stumble upon something scary and not want it

Re: Sweet air for dental work?
If your kid is totally healthy, he or she should be fine.
If the kid can tolerate without, I'd probably go that way... But I have friends who took their kids to a hospital for cavity work under general anesthesia (girl was 4) because it was too much even for the "sweet air".
Major side effect is nausea... Though not everyone gets it.

I get sweet air for myself every single time and I would give it to DC if he need it.

Re: Sweet air for dental work?
DS had sweet air - they did it while he had an IV of chemo in him and they were not worried at all.
Effects wear off in 5 minutes - if that. I will say, DS was still upset getting all the work done.
