Swelling anyone?
Is anyone swelling up arouund their ankles and hands like a balloon lately? This weather is killer. I'm staying away from salt and drinking lots of water- anyone have any other suggestions. It's so bad it's painful!

Re: Swelling anyone?
Ugh- I know how you feel. I have a wedding tonight and I have no idea how I'm going to get shoes on! Any suggestions on how I can get the swelling to decrease?

Re: Swelling anyone?
My feet and legs were swelling really, really badly for 2 weeks, then one day they just went down on their own. They still swell, but not as bad as they were.

Re: Swelling anyone?
I had a very bad stretch a few weeks ago where the swelling was out of control in my hands/feet and ankles. I attended a wedding and wore strappy high heeled sandals, and nearly couldn't walk - my shoes were so tight I felt like they were cutting off my circulation
But remarkably, the swelling got much better for me lately, even with this heat! I have done the usual things (increasing my potassium by eating bananas daily, drinking even MORE water than I was, trying to avoid very salty meals) and in my case it did seem to help somewhat. I do swell a little by the end of the day but overall it's under control.
If you are predisposed to swellling, though, even with adding water and all that, you might not get the swelling to go away You can to try to keep your feet elevated high (above your heart) and that should help in the short term to decrease the worst of it, so that by tonight you might feel a bit better
Good Luck!

Re: Swelling anyone?
Sometimes the swelling gets so bad than I can barely even walk. I sit with my feet up and my DH soaks hand towels in COLD water, wrings them out , and covers my feet and ankles with them. Soooooo soothing!! HTH!

Re: Swelling anyone?
I had that in my last month. I couldn't wear my rings and i lost my ankles to cankles. But a week after the c-section, I was able to get my rings back on and a few days later my ankles resurfaced. I know how uncomfortable it can be, but it will get better

Yes, I called my doctor b/c the pain was so bad, couldnt walk or feel my hands thats how numb and on fire they were, I had to take tylenol extra strength for 2 days and wear support socks. I am MUCH better now.
