Switching baby from formula to milk question..
Did you do it gradually? If so, how? My granddaughters ped said to do replace 1/2 oz. milk for formula for 4 days, then another 1/2 milk 4 days, etc.till she's completely on milk. This seems like it will take a long time to completely switch. Won't be able to try any other new foods during this transition. Dr. wants to do it gradually to make sure there is no allergy. They can't give her new foods during that time because if there was an allergic reaction, they wouldn't know what it is from. So far she has shown no allergies to any foods, so I didn't know whye he'd be so cautious. She eats YoBaby yogurt, cottage cheese and other cheeses too.

why not?
We switched it gradually because he didn't like the taste of milk. Had no issues no loves milk, asks it first time in the morning, since he could sign milk at 13m.

Re: Switching baby from formula to milk question..
We did half and half for about a week since we still had a little bit of formula left. She hasn't been allergic to any foods and had been eating whole milk yogurt for a while so they didn@lt think there would be a problem.

Re: Switching baby from formula to milk question..
I did it somewhat gradually, but that sounds a bit drastic. Has she been eating yogurt and cheeses without a problem? Did she have any issues on formula at all? If she didn't, I can't see her having an issue to the milk, but that IMO.
I did 1oz of milk and 5oz of formula for about a week, then 2 and 4 the week after. I did 3 and 3 for about 3-4 days and then ran out of formula and didn't want to buy another can ! I just started giving all milk, and he didn't have a problem. I also was changing him from his bottles to straw cups as I was getting him on to milk, and it worked!
My Dr told me that formula is ment to be pretty much a meal while milk is a drink. Now that my DS is on milk, the majority of his nutrition should come from actual food.
She also said to try not to give more then 20-24 ounces a day of milk because too much calcium can inhibit iron absorption.

I did it gradual, but a 2oz difference. First two days 6oz formula 2oz milk, then 4oz/4oz for two days then 2oz formula, 6oz milk..then all milk..
