Switching Formula for gas or allergy purpose.....
How long does it take to kick in?
My DD is still crying and in major discomfort. I switched to Alimentum Sat nite and she is still crying and not a happy baby!
Should I wait it out?
Not sure because this could be a milk allergy which would require me to give her a soy but I dont want to switch and make her tummy worse.
ETA: She is also spitting up after every burp with this Alimentum

Re: Switching Formula for gas or allergy purpose.....
It can take 2 weeks or so to get totally better. My son was allergic to milk AND soy, which is common, so soy might not help. I think Alimentum is one of hte hypoallergenic ones so you should notice improvement in about a week. You might want ot go to the ped to be sure though, they can test a diaper if it's a milk protein allergy. Good lucK!

I would def talk to the dr about the formula. Did your ped put her on the Alimentum?

Re: Switching Formula for gas or allergy purpose.....
When I switched to Alimentum with my son - the colic never stopped - didn't help there. The reflux got worse at first since it is a lighter formula and he took time to adjust but leveled out after about 5-7 days. The digestive issues we had cleared up immediately. He was extremely constipated and always crying in pain and the day we started the formula it never happened again. My son is lactose intolerant - found out for sure when we started the whole milk at a year but suspected it from the start since DH is. My doctor was against me changing formulas too but only gave us approval because DH was lactose intolerant - I am so glad we did.
Doctor said it takes a full week to see the difference with any formula change.

Another ? What bottles are you using? Maybe they are causing too much air in her belly and giving her gas.

I think you should call the ped and ask for his opinion. Maybe he can get you in earlier. It may be an allergy.
