Switching REs
Sorry if this is too long....
We are planning on doing IVF once my DH's insurance is effective on 11/1 (mine only covered 3 IUIs) .
My current Dr. is on his insurance but is not a "center of excellence" so we would have to pay co-pays for office visits. Any "center of excellence" is completely covered.
I love my RE and feel comfortable going ahead with him for IVF but I also feel that I should visit some others while I am waiting for the new coverage to kick-in. I could meet with REs who are on my insurance now and be ready to go ahead when DH's is effective.
So, I have 2 questions:
1. Do I need to get copies of my records from my current RE or can I just tell them the tests and results of any exams/procedures.
2. My diagnosis is old eggs. My RE spoke about doing an estrogen-priming protocol. With that diagnosis, which clinic out of these two would be the best: Cornell or Sher Institute?

Re: Switching REs
Yes, you would definitely need copies of your records. And for AMA - Cornell/Dr. Davis.
Good luck!

Re: Switching REs
Why don't you speak to your RE about this 1st, esp since you like the group?
Maybe they'll be able to work something out with you cc copays.

Re: Switching REs
Dr. Davis is wonderful but does not accept insurance. Your office visit will be out of pocket and if you have out of network coverage you can submit it to your insurance co.
There are a few docs at Cornell who accept insurance. The two they accept are United Healthcare and Oxford.
Either way, all the records need to come over.
Good luck with your journey.

Re: Switching REs
Thanks, ladies.
Davis is not on the list of Dr.s at Cornell. Goldschlag, Kang and Klingman are listed so I will try to meet with one of them.
I also made an appointment at Sher just for the convenience factor - they are only one block from my office.

Re: Switching REs
Just an FYI - Davis is not in my plan either. I paid out of pocked for our consult (though I was able to put it through our out of network coverage). Everything else has gone through my Oxford insurance. I have been going to Cornell for over a year. I haven't had to pay anything else related to Dr. Davis. Even when he takes time to make my decisions for my cycle etc...
Dr. Kang, just had a baby but she's probably back. She's in GC M-Th mornings. I really like her too. She's sat with me in her office looking back through my records when I noticed something strange about my lining (like it never goes below 6). Goldschlag is in GC on Friday mornings. I've been seen by all of them. You really can't go wrong with any of the ones in your insurance group.
