Switching REs is like going through a bad breakup!

I went to my RE today to get copies of my files. I'm not techinically switching I'm just seeking other opinions, but with the intent to switch if I like what I see. As I was filling out the paperwork my favorite nurse there walked in and looked at me puzzled and asked what I was there for (with all the patients she has, she knew I wasn't scheduled to be there that day). Then she looked down and saw the papers in my had and just said 'oh' and put a hand on my arm for a second. From day 1 - she's been half the reason I made it through this far....she is patient, empathetic, and all the qualities a good nurse should be. If I could take her with me I would. I walked out feeling like I had just gone through a terrible break up and I haven't even officially left!

While it's hard to think of this now, I think it is great that you have made the change for yourself! There is nothing like following your gut instinct and being your own advocate. Chat Icon
Good luck to you!

You are doing what you feel is best. I am sure they understand that. Chat Icon

Thanks ladies. As the days go by I feel more and more like we need to check out other options. We're still seeing the regular RE simultaneously as I finish up some testing with them - but I'm happy to have a fresh start elsewhere.

You don't go to the RE to make friends, you go there to start your family and you have to do what's best. It's not personal, it's business. They are there to perform a job for you and if you're not seeing results you have every reason to leave. I wish I listened to that advice sooner. Good luck.

I was just about to right the exact thing...its purely business and they are not your friend...I had no qualms in shopping around when I was ready to move onto IVF and I did not care...I had to do what was right for me and if they are guilting you who cares...the end result of you having a baby is what is important no matter what

Thanks ladies - appreciate your responses. They aren't making me feel guilty at all. In fact, no one even knows I'm switching other than the admin who is copying my files and the nurse who passed by. The problem is with me feeling that this particular nurse really helped me through - emotionally. I've laughed with her, cried with her and she has always been there to answer my every question. She is really the best and I only hope there is someone at the other office that puts my mind at ease so much.
