Taconic Crash: Schuler’s Brother-In-Law Furious

While the families of those killed in the July 26 Taconic Parkway crash planned to meet to exchange condolences, noticeably absent will be Daniel Schuler, whose wife Diane was driving drunk and impaired by marijuana when she got on the Taconic Parkway going in the wrong direction, killing her, her daughter, three nieces and three men in another vehicle.
Warren Hance, Diane Schuler’s brother, lost his three daughters in the crash and says he is angry that his brother-in-law has denied Diane was drinking and smoking pot before the crash. The New York Post reports that Hance “wants nothing to do with Daniel Schuler.”
The family of Michael and Guy Bastardi, two of the men in the vehicle that Schuler hit head on, will meet with the Hance family to console each other in the wake of the unthinkable crash. Days after the incident, an autopsy revealed that Diane Schuler had a blood alcohol content .19 and had smoked marijuana as little as 15 minutes before the crash. She called her brother, saying she was having trouble seeing. Hance told her to stay put and he would find her, but she did not listen. Her cell phone was later found at a rest stop. Shortly after the call, Schuler, who was driving the children home from an upstate campground, got on the Taconic going in the wrong direction.
Last week Daniel Schuler hired Garden City-based attorney Dominic Barbara and held a press conference, claiming his wife might have been the victim of a stroke or some other medical condition.
The Hance and Bastardi family reject that theory.

I feel so sorry for this family.
With all of the accusations being slung around they don't even have time to grieve the loss of their loved ones. It's turning into a hate-fest and while I can understand why, I still think it's so sad.

Everyone is so angry bc they probably cant handle the loss so they are holding on to anger.
Though, I cant believe that the brother is holding the husband responsible saying that he should have known... I think they all should have known.

The Bastardi family attorney made this comment. Here's a link to the Newsday article where he says he just made an "inference" based on comments made. This did not come from Warren hance directly. The NY Post has been horrible with their articles surrounding this case.

IMO, the husband is making an a$$ of himself by INSISTING that his wife was not drunk and stoned. The scientific PROOF is there.

OMG... that is just horrible. OK, so this is his new theory on why she had a BAC of 0.19... now how does he explain why she had undigested alcohol in her stomach and pot in her system? This lawyer is an idiot.

I think the brother is pi$$ed off at the BIL for making such a tragedy such a joke of what happened. I would be too. Especially when the evidence is there.
This Lawyer should lose his priviledges for reaching out to whatever he can think of. It changes from day to day. It's ridiculous!

I think he should do more than fire DB. Geez what will this winner come up with next. You need a hell of alot of bottles to get a .19. But look who we are dealing with and look how Joey Buttafuco cases has been with him as a lawyer. No winning streak. Just a circus and that is why Warren Hance is ******.

This lawyer is a joke. He represented Jessica Hahn and Joey Buttafuoco. He should be disbarred.
As for DB, he is making a mockery of this unbelievable tragedy and I feel SO sorry for his son who is going to have THIS as his legacy
