Re: Taking away bottle/Drinking milk
I did it at 12 months. I spoke to the Dr and she said they don't really need a lot of.milk as long as they are drinking water and eating yogurt and cheese. I went cold turkey. At first they didn't drink a lot but within a week they were drinking more. In the meantime I just gave them more dairy in other ways.
Good.luck!

Re: Taking away bottle/Drinking milk
My boys, particularly H., were bottle addicts. I was afraid that they wouldn't drink milk once I took away their bottles. I just bought "cool" sippy cups with Elmo and other characters on them, and they did fine. I kept their bedtime bottle until 18mo. Now, at 26 months, they drink tons on milk.

Re: Taking away bottle/Drinking milk
i eased into it with DS.. Didnt get frustrated or upset - it wont happen immediately.
i had sippy cups for water/juice before 12 months and tried that with the milk - he wasnt so cool with it. So the morning and evening milks - i kept with a bottle bc i knew it was important.. his afternoon milk was in a sippy cup and he would nurse that but eventually finish it.
i ended up buying A LOT of diff sippy cups to find what DS liked the most.

Re: Taking away bottle/Drinking milk
Mine didnt stop.
I used a sippy and they enjoy it in there and they get a full cup of it daily, sometimes two.
ETA: Bottles stopped at 17 months and night time bottle stopped around 20months.

Taking away bottle/Drinking milk
My girls were EBF. I added 1 cup of milk after their 2nd nap around 11 months. Once I realized they liked it I replaced their morning nursing session with milk and gave them a cup of milk after both naps. Eventually I dropped the two cups after the morning cup because it was getting annoying trying to keep it cold when we were out and about. They don't drink as much milk as they should but I make up for it by giving yogurts and cheeses as snacks.
