Taking baby out of the house?

When did you start taking your newborn out of the house regularly? We are going stir crazy over here! So far we have taken her to the doctor and just for rides in the car to calm her down when she is fussy, but we are anxious to bring her with us when we go places.

a few days after we came home. Everyone is different, but i think if you don't pass the baby around or have children touch her, you should be fine. Chat Icon

Re: Taking baby out of the house?

Within a few days of being home. She was at her first restaurant at 11 days old. Everyone is different though...you have to do what you are comfortable with. As long as no one touched her/came near her, I was fine. I think it helped that she was born in June too...not sure if I would have taken her out so soon in the winter.

Ditto!

I had some post c-section issues I needed to heal from before I got clearance to drive again. But, by the time Ryan was 4 weeks we were at the supermarket Chat Icon

Re: Taking baby out of the house?

my dd was born in NC in March and it was 70 degrees. I took her to the supermarket at 1 week old and for daily walks

babies are born with immunity from the mother so you should be fine Chat Icon

Re: Taking baby out of the house?

DD was out every day from the time we got home, but that was for daily dr. visits.

We took her on an outing with us at 3 weeks old. She's 6 weeks today

Re: Taking baby out of the house?

a few days. but it was mostly for walks with DH and I. when we did go to stores, she was covered and no one got close enough to breathe on her or anything. by 1 month though she was out and about, visiting friends and going to the store without being covered all the time.... although i still sometimes throw a blanket over her if we go out on the weekends when the stores are super busy. whenever you feel comfy!

Re: Taking baby out of the house?

2 weeks-we took trhem to dinner and put them in their car seats inside the booth. My babies were in NICU an dthe dr gave us a good idea-she said cover the car seat with a blanket-it protects them from germs. Then when you get home throw it in the wash.

DD was at a restaurant at 2 weeks. I imagine that with this one it will be about the same as I cannot imagine keeping my 2 year old cooped up in the summer.

DS was a December baby, we started going out right away with the holidays.

To the mall he was less than a month old the first time we went.

The first three months we tried to keep it as limited as possible (I tried my best) but it was hard.

Re: Taking baby out of the house?

well DS went to a Superbowl Party at 2 weeks so we had him out and about pretty early.

Everyone is different. I'm a believer in getting out and about is good for you and the baby.

Re: Taking baby out of the house?

That very day we got home from the hospital.. i had to go buy a baby monitor! LOL

Pretty much I hid her from public when she was out but she was out from then on.

I'd steer her stroller away from people and avoid crowds but she was fine. It was me who was more stressed out.

By 2weeks she was out to dinner with us.
