Taking crate away for good question
Bella no longer sleeps in her crate, but once in a blue moon and I mean blue moon, she will go in there and walk around. Not sure if she is being nosy or just because that was where she slept for almost a year so she is making sure everything is kosher in there - LOL. My question is, we are thinking about taking it away all together and putting it in the basement.
Might be a dumb question, but you think she would recent us in some way

I would keep it around, just in case.

I think she sounds ready to be done with it. When we took ours away, our dogs could not care less.

Good to hear. Like I said, she never goes in it and when she does its only for a few seconds. It's sitting in the Den like an eye sore for no reason right now and we would love to take it away.

can you replace it with an attractive bed? if she gets upset you can always put the crate back..

I can;t even tell you how much $$ I spent on beds for this dog and all she does is play with them - LOL. Her spot is on the couch with us or she just sits on the carpet in a little ball
True, I can always just bring it back up. I just don't want her to get ****** and start rebelling or something.

Holden is like that. We keep his crate around for him. He goes in once in a blue moon to nap or check it out. He is the only one of my 3 that is at all interested in his crate and the only crate we have around.

Re: Taking crate away for good question
I have a big dog that I started off crate training. Now obviously, this crate was HUGE and took up alot of space in my living room.
Once he got to the point he could be trusted alone in the house and didnt need it anymore I took it away. He still liked going in there and sleeping, but seriously I couldnt keep it anymore in my livingroom.
I put a nice new dog bed in place of the crate. I think he missed the crate a little at first, or maybe it just him nervous to see his crate go. But he loves his dog bed now.
But I still kept it as his "spot", just no crate.
So, I think she'll be ok.

I would take it away based on what you said. For every dog it is different.
