Talk to me about bball games at the new Citifield
We are getting some tix from my cousin and we've never been there and we've never taken Ellie, who's 3 to a baseball game so it will be her first. I'm looking for tips/advice from those who have been about how early to get there, what to do, eat, etc. Anything you can tell me. thanks!

I only went to 1 game there this year & w/o DC; it's probably easiest to take the LIRR to "Shea/Willets Point", although w/ how they're playing I'm sure driving there won't be rough.
I got there early & walked around entire stadium. They have every food imaginable; mexican, seafood, italian, sushi, & regular ballpark fair. There are a number of gift shops w/ all things Mets.
You can get there early to watch batting practice.
ETA: definitely get her her own seat b/c the space between seats is sorta tight; at least in the cheap seats--you wouldn't want her on your lap the whole time

Re: Talk to me about bball games at the new Citifield
I've been to Citi-Field a few times this year and I'm actually going again for the last time this season on Sunday. As the PP said, you're better off taking LIRR, especially this week because of the US Open. Parking a car will be ridiculous and you might end up parking inside Flushing Meadow. If you do venture to take the car in, parking is $18.
I like to get there early to eat and watch batting practice. Food is pretty expensive, but you definately get your money's worth. I love the ribs at Blue Smoke. You get about 5-6 ribs which are really meaty and filling for $10. There's also Shake Shake, but I warn you, the lines are crazy long. From what DH tells me, the burgers are good and I love the custard. I don't remember the prices. The taco place is also good according to my DH. You can find these places on the field level. Also on the field level, there are games for the kids to play.

Re: Talk to me about bball games at the new Citifield
It seems like at least 2 of you are saying take the LIRR which I'm a little hesitant to do only b/c I'm taking a 3 yr old to a night game that only starts at 7 so I figured she'd be more comfortable in the car for the way home especially but it does make sense what you're saying about the parking. But I feel like a pay a sm fortune for RR tickets as well!

Re: Talk to me about bball games at the new Citifield
My Dh has a ticket plan so he goes about twice a month. We took Kaydyn there once so far this season. We always drive and never really have a problem. I really wouldn't want to drag my 19 month old on a train.
We got there at about 12pm for a 1:10 game. We walked around a little bit and then went up to our seats. We didn't last the whole game because Kaydyn was too restless.
We def needed the extra seat in between us for her...it would have been too squishy for three of us to share 2 seats.
They have a ton of different types of food.
