Talk to me about Grand Cayman

I’ve never been!
My mom is treating my family for her 70th. We’re staying in an oceanfront three-bedroom condo on 7 mile Beach. The condo is located next to the Marriott.
I am Looking for restaurant recommendations and excursion suggestions. Also, my mom is a big “sheller,” so any tips on where the best shells are. Thanks!

I’ve only been to the seven mile beach area of grand Cayman...

I thought the sunset sail was a beautiful excursion. The snorkeling excursions were great too. Of course, Grand Cayman is known for its sting rays and that’s pretty cool if you aren’t afraid. There are companies that do all of these together... forgot the name but it involved red... so maybe red sail or something like that. They also have blue iguanas and that was a pretty memorable (but long) trip. We also checked out the ecological gardens there... but had a guide which made for a cool but expensive day.

I never saw any shells on the beach. Maybe a different part of the island. Best shells I’ve seen by far were on West coast of Florida.

The best thing about Grand Cayman is the very easy ability to snorkel out from the beach to actually see fish and reef life. I’ve seen turtles, rays, gorgeous fish just swimming from the beach with my then 6 year old.

We went thru Sail Cayman and did a sail tour thru them. Amazing.
