talk to me about similac allimentum
do insurance companies cover this formula?? the ped finally called me back after just about 10 hours of my 11week old having shooting green diarrhea (thats a whole other story) but they told me to put her on the similac allimentum and get her to GI..
thank god i trusted my mommy instinct and had already made the apt. yesterday! they automatically gave me the referral with out a complaint.. but this formula is VERY expensive and if my insurance will cover it, it would be a blessing since im currently not working!
thanks for any info!

Re: talk to me about similac allimentum
It depends. I live in a state where it's mandated that DD's formula is covered by insurance if it's a medical necessiity (which it is). HOWEVER, because my plan is self funded, they are not obligated to follow the state mandate, unless DD needed to be on a feeding tube.
Call your carrier and ask.

Re: talk to me about similac allimentum
It's covered by our union. We have to pay for it, and then about 2-3 weeks later we get a check back for the full amount.

Re: talk to me about similac allimentum
when we were on my Empire UHC it was covered fully and 7 cases of 6 RTF bottles came to my door monthly. When we had to switch to DH's Aetna they wouldn't cover it and I think that is an Aetna thing. Luckily, we had lots left over from the deliveries, so I only had to buy a little. I found other teachers on craigslist who had twins and leftovers. I bought it off them for $3 a bottle. Turns out we knew some of the same people! When DD went onto milk she didn't have any problems but she didn't have a milk allergy.

Re: talk to me about similac allimentum
I know you got your answer already but I wanted to add I talked to my insurance and they said they cover it, with a $50 a month copay (still way less than what it would actually cost) My dd just started it yesterday... hope your little one feels better
