Re: Tankless hot water heater?

I do not have one but I asked my plumber about getting one and he said not worth it in my house (have a colonial splanch). He told me a long story why, think had to do with where it was situated it would not reach the upstairs bathrooms.

Re: Tankless hot water heater?

we are getting an estimate for this next week

one of the reasons we are looking into it, the type of shower we have if you are in it longer than 15-20 minutes on 101 degrees you run out of hot water cause of all the jets

We have one and it's great. The water is heated on demand, so you aren't paying to heat water for when you may need it. Ours is powered by natural gas, and it's so much cheaper than when we had a tank that was being heated by oil. You never run out of hot water!!

We recently had to get a new water heater and asked the plumber about one. He said it wasn't possible in our house. We don't have a basement so the water heater and gas burner are in a small room and there wasn't enough space on an exterior wall to fit it.

We asked about it when we had a new oil burner put in and our plumber said they were great, but you can't install them with oil burners, only with gas.

Love it!
It takes up very little space, like maybe 2 feet by 2 feet. Granted there are different ones on the market, we went with a mid-range one. I have never had a problem with the shower in my master bath considering it is in the front corner of my home & the unit is 3 floors down in the basement (a colonial) clearly in the opposite corner of the house.

We have one with our gas burner. We got them both at the same time.

You're lucky you had the option - there are no gas lines in our neighborhood - would have been over $30,000 just to run the lines in!

See this is why we are gonna get it, they are coming to give estimate tomorrow
We have a massive shower with 9 jets and we run out so fast, supposedly this is supposed to last and last, now we get 15 minutes of hot hot water before it flatlines

I think it was more of an issue with multiple people showering at the same time, it just cant produce enough hot water to keep up with the demand. We have a big family and it is quite possible for 2 people to be showering in different bathrooms at the same time, washing machine going, etc... wow 9 jets sounds amazinG!!

In the end we actually didnt wind up replacing our existing hot water heater when we did the gas conversion. Our plumber said it was in good shape and since we dont currently have an issue with the hot water we figured we would leave it for now.
