tantrums- how to stop them in 1 year old
My just about to be 1 dd has begun throwing tantrums and i do not like this type of behavior. I really dont know where she learned it. The second i take something away she shouldnt play with, say no, or dont let her have something shes point at she flips out. I dont give in. And if i tell her to stop or tell her to calm down or tell her she cant do this just because mommy said no. He cries worse. I dont yell at her and i tell her calmly. Only once did i lose my patience and raise my voice at her.
How do i get this to stop?

Not there yet (dreading it!). But I think all you can do is distract at this point. They really don't understand. And I'm sure distracting will become less and less effective as they are more aware that they are being distracted lol.

I ignore him and actually tell him that he will get over it. He stops crying and lays on the floor like what do I do now?

You can't stop it. They are learnign adn the tantrum is probably because they are unable to fully communicate what you want.
While none of us 'Like" this behavior it is all part of them growing.
Get used to it because it is just starting at 1year.

Agreed. DD is just starting this lately and distracting her is the best option. I take her into another room, give her something new to play with, whisper or sing to get her attention. Depends on where we are and what's available. She's still very easy to distract at this point so the crying usually just lasts a few seconds.

I try to ignore it. I rarely give in, most of the time I try to distract her with something else like our cat, a song or a tv show.

DD just started throwing tantrums and she SCREECHES so loud. DH said it's her only way of communicating, so we try to be patient.

This, exactly!
I just ignore and redirect, especially at that age.

Re: tantrums- how to stop them in 1 year old
its within them. my dd was throwing tantrums i only thought 3 year olds could have since she was like 5 months old. its crazy!! i just softly and firmly say no and then distract/redirect her. and if she doesnt stop then i let her cry until shes ready to calm down with a pacifier. its very hard. they dont understand much at this age. its such raw emotion.

Exactly. Wait untiil 2. Then wait until 3. If you think you don't like it now, wait until they are talking back to you, demanding everything under the sun, screaming bloody murder, climbing out of the crib, telling you to GO AWAY, etc. It's maddening. We call my DD the little dictator.

I ignore him. I make sure he is safe but any attention you give makes it worse. GL

I say no and redirect. If that fails, I ignore the tantrum and I let him cry. I notice if I leave him be he usually stops within seconds.

Ignore them!! But let them know that the item, event is going away/stopping as simple and clearly as possible. I then re-direct. If possible
