Target question....

If there are trees on "clearance" are you be able to buy the display items if it's the last one?

I was in Tarjay (lol) last night..and a woman wanted to buy the display tree (keep in mind 2 were sold before she came along). One of the not so nice clerks came out and yelled at another telling them they should not have sold them and if anyone has a problem with it to give her name.

I didn't understand why that is? If they are on clearance they are trying to get rid of them, so why not sell the display?

Probably becasue it is a display - they may want to use it for other ornaments/decorations plus it would leave an empty space on the floor which could look weird.

Re: Target question....

If they sell the display when it isn't the last one, how will people know what is in the box on the shelf? Especially for clearance things. You really want to see the tree opened up before you buy it.

When I worked at Target, the trees on display were always donated to various facilities (soup kitchens, less fortunate families, etc). I worked there up until 2003, and that was the policy at the store and all the employees were aware of it.

Re: Target question....

I tried to buy a display item in Target last night and they said they don't sell displays. DH begged, no good.

ETA: In other stores, we always pray the display is the "last one" so we can get a nice floor model discount Chat Icon

That's the thing..the tree this woman wanted was the last one. AND they sold 2 display items before she came.
